It's a very rapid and fast change from anger to sadness to hyperness to being ok to anger to sadness and so on. I am going on my period in about 3 days. This always seems to happen the week before my period. It's incredibly frightening because at times I am suicidal and want to hurt myself. And then I will be so angry that my face is hot and I can't seem to control myself. I will want to punch something and I can hardly catch my breath. I never would hurt anyone else though during these times of anger. And in the hyper stages, I will want to dance and sing and exercise a lot. I don't think this is normal but I could be wrong. My mom says she never had PMS symptoms. I don't know if mine are serious but they are bad enough to where I have hurt myself because of PMS sadness. I would never kill myself but the thoughts are sometimes there. Moods are very uncontrollable for me the week before my period. Is there anyone that can tell me if this is normal? Or if I should be worried? Is it abnormal to be this unstable because of my period? Is this just because of hormones or what? |

Premenstrual dysphoric disorder - PubMed Health Here's the PMS link too. I'm confused. Premenstrual syndrome - PubMed Health For PMDD says you need at least 5 of the symptoms and I have: 1. Anxiety and tension 2. Mood swings 3. Feelings of sadness or hopelessness, sometimes suicidal thoughts 4. Physical symptoms like tender breasts and bloating and headaches 5. Feeling out of control 6. Food cravings 7. Fatigue 8. Irritability and anger (although I don't lash out at others) I don't know really I'm confused. I don't have these rapid mood swings any other time other than right before my period and it gets out of control. |

If you are more "stable" then, it may be premenstral dysphoric disorder or severe PMS. Go chat with your doctor and clue them in, and if you see an OB/GYN, let them know as well.
