| Posting Anonymously Posts: 34,191 Join Date: Dec 2007 | I am looking to buy my first binder. I was wondering if anybody had some suggestions. I am a c-cup. I was also wondering if I should go with the full undershirt type or one that is more like a bra. Also, I don't know very many websites where I can buy binders at. Thanks!! |

I'm sending you a link to the comparison chart on a site I've bought from before, so you can see what would suit you best. The site is located in Taiwan, and I've ordered from them in the past without customs problems. I don't know where you are, so I can't tell you about things in your area. Here's what I have to say: Long - admittedly more aesthetically pleasing on its own, as it simply looks like an undershirt as opposed to a bra. Although, of course, if it's always going to be worn under clothing, this really doesn't matter. Only downside is, they always, always roll up at the bottom. Don't doubt this point. Haha. Plus they add pressure to your tummy which is unnecessary... The binder's already going to be crushing your lungs quite a bit... Do you really want it to be constricting on your entire torso? Short - Looks kind of more like a sports bra than an undershirt, but if it's just gonna be worn under clothing, I recommend it over the long variety. It won't roll up and be a nuisance AND it's more comfortable as it doesn't constrict your tummy -- only your chest, obviously. Velcro or spandex/stretchy materials? Velcro. 'Nuff said. With C cups, you want as much compression as you can get, otherwise you won't obtain a flat chest (Don't worry, I feel your pain. I'm a DD-E). Velcro flattens a LOT better than the cheap simple spandex ones. You want to make sure you get one with velcro binding. Binders are available all over the internetz. Not difficult to find. They're even available on Ebay. Also, check these out:
NOTE: For best results, I would recommend those with larger cups to wear a sports bra underneath (helps flatten them out more), OR, optimally, if you can, wear a sports bra, and TWO binders: One the right way round and the other backwards. IF it doesn't crush you too much! Some folks with larger cups have just an impossible time compressing their chest, so you want to make sure that if you're going to invest the money, you want it to work and not just look terrible! Good luck! Any questions, shoot me a message. ![]() |

It just kind of smashed everything together, making my stomach and chest look larger than they were. It might work differently on people with different body shapes (I'm overweight), but I'd recommend going with the short-type. That's my experience anyway. Also, as Homo Novus said, the short ones do roll up quite a bit, which can be pretty annoying. |

Getting my hands on a chest binder The important question is "How long are you wearing the garment?". If you're just looking to flatten your breasts for a very short period of time, then binding for an hour or two is not damaging. If you're looking to flatten out your breasts for hours at a time or if you're going to wearing a garment daily, then you want to invest in a surgical grade garment that allows air to be exchanged on the skin and that doesn't pinch or squease the surface of the skin. Any areas that are not completely smooth can damage the skin, cause chafing and can even cause skin ulcerations. The ideal garment is anchored- either as an all-in-one that looks like a pair of boxer briefs that stretch upward to the shoulders. These do not crawl and will usually maintain a smooth surface that doesn't damage the skin. If you're small-breasted or if you're wearing the garment for a short time, then Spanx and other manufacturers make a T-shirt garment (like the Double Binder that is linked above) that will provide support, flatten the chest and add shape to the torso. However, these T-shirt style garments do crawl upward and they can bunch at the waist when you're seated. |
