Default hrt question

After somebody starts with hrt... how soon may the psychological changes start kicking in from the hormones?

Some girls I've spoken with notice almost immediate psychological benefits. The physical changes take longer. Imagine that your body is starving for estrogen but is getting testrosterone instead. You're being poisoned. Once the testosterone is blocked and your body gets the estrogen it craves, positive changes begin immediately.

I'm going to be starting in the next couple of months. I'll let you know how it goes.

I experienced what I considered to be small psychological changes fairly quickly, like within weeks. As I've increased the dosage of estradiol I've noticed more changes so it will probably depend on what dosage you start on too.

Pregnancy is impossible for a transitioned transsexual (m2f) but is it possible/available to take different hormones to experience some of the many effects of pregnancy like breast growth and stronger emotion?

... Even swollen feat and weird food cravings.

My doctor wanted me to let them know if I was getting swollen feet and stop taking the estradiol right away if that happened. Sooo you might not want that to happen.

I feel like I crave sweets more now though. That probably was one of the first changes I noticed actually. Ever since I was a little kid I never was into ice cream and wasn't even that big on candy. But for some reason I really just like chocalate anything now. Also ice cream and cream puffs taste amazing now, although according to my friends this should have always been the case.

Your doctor did the correct thing.

Hormones do have quite a few side effects- some, such as the emotional side effects, are normal and are expected. Other side effects like swelling, depression, blood clots, etc are not normal side effects and can be signs that your doctor needs to know about.

Your doctor should tell you which side effects are serious and when you should call about side effects.
