Default Low Testosterone

I'm an 18 year old male.

Recently I have been having big issues with my libido and energy levels getting really low. I have noticed it getting progressively worse over the last year or so. My question is (and I know this is probably a really stupid question, but I'm going to ask anyway) how can you tell when you are having low testosterone issues. I had a friend awhile back who was having those issues, and it really effected him in a lot of the same ways I'm feeling. He got testosterone shots, and it helped.

Any advice and info would be appreciated.

Hormonal therapy for feeling a bit low seems extreme to me.. I don't know, really, but I believe some doctors (especially in the US it seems) administer certain treatments far too lightly. Testosterone shots at 18... that doesn't sound right.

How are you feeling generally? Are you depressed, worried, tired, etc.? Those things are more likely to be the cause of low libido than pure testosterone level. I mean, for example, during bad periods (depression-wise) I tend not to feel any sexual needs for weeks or months (masturbation included) and this has been so for me even when I was younger.

Low testosterone is easy to diagnose in teenage males. The biggest sign is that it is typically a guy who is lagging behind other guys his age- body hair, voice change, first ejaculation, energy level, increase in muscle mass, etc. Sometimes there are other signs like enlargement of the tissue under the nipples (gynecomastia). Libido is the least dependable sign when evaluating low testosterone.

What was your libido and energy like before? What changed and when did it change?
