Default Lesbian movies/tv shows

I've noticed this with lesbian films/tv shows/media in general.>> One of the women either dies or gets left behind, her heart broken. On tv shows often a woman leaves her girlfriend to go to a man. There are hardly any happy lesbian endings. It's almost always this way. There are some exceptions of course, but the majority of lesbian films seem to be depressing.

Why do you think this is?

Here are just 2 examples of incredibly depressing films. It's late or I'd look up more.
1. The Children's Hour
2. Sappho

Have you ever seen South Of Nowhere? It has its ups and downs in terms of the relationship but in the end it's a really happy and cute love story.

I found it great in Stargate: Universe that the only relationship that was happy and actually worked was the lesbian one

The Colonel cheated on his wife with his medical officer.
The Lieutenant's girlfriend left him before telling him she was pregnant.
And the lesbians were happy and had a very healthy long term relationship
