It looks like a lump but if its touched it feels soft and it goes down. Its kind of close to where my wisdom teeth are coming in. I've gotta say though that I might have to blame myself because I have been touching that area a lot. I'm just curious as to what it might be--a swelling perhaps? I'm going to the dentist in about two weeks but just to give myself some peace of mind, what could it be? |

Everyone has gum pockets- which are gaps between the gum and the tooth- however they are normally small to where bacteria and food can't get trapped between them. With gum disease or impacted teeth, the pocket can enlarge as the gum recedes which allows food and bacteria to get into the space formed by the pocket. When you're at your dentists, be sure to point it out and ask about it. |
