| Posting Anonymously Posts: 34,191 Join Date: Dec 2007 | ... and I am 16. I just love making my own worlds up and being a part of them. It's so fun. Is this strange? I have a maturity problem to most and I do act immature a fair bit BUT I can act my age when I have to (but I don't like to ). People tell me to grow up and act mature but I can't seem to be able to. I guess I can't move past the "losing your childhood playfullnes" stage. What is going on? |

And I'd say the ability to make up new worlds is something that is worth more than what people think it is...I'd say some people would kill to be able to think that way. |

Metal is right: as long as you can be sensible when it is actually required, then that's all you need. Although I will say that there's "playful immature," and "stupid and annoying immature." Just make sure you're the first sort . |

| Posting Anonymously Posts: 34,191 Join Date: Dec 2007 | Sometimes I act like a kid, too, and I'm in college. I like to pretend like I don't know what things mean and ask questions that don't make sense only to see how people react. |

All in my imagination, of course. And I'm 42. Lex |

| Posting Anonymously Posts: 34,191 Join Date: Dec 2007 | society's view on brain/heart usage (got this from my teacher and idk if i wrote it right) all brain all logic= intelligent heart and brain logic and love= normal all heart think with your heart=crazy/weird if you come up with something "outragous" and different society usually shuts you down.... growing up in this world is sort of like throwing your life away to me. i think you should keep your imagination, and free thinking, instead of buckling down and keeping everything inside... sometimes my dad looks at my drawings... he asked me what was wrong with me. i said nothing. (its because i draw acid art sometimes) different views are pretty fun. idk i dont think i explained my view on that pretty well XD |

I kinda do it too. Well, I don't actually create my own worlds...but I steal other people's . Like if I'm reading a really good book (I read mostly fantasy) or watching a good show, when I take a break from it, I let my imagination loose and imput myself into the story somehow. Then I think about what would happen and how events would play out...it's kinda fun lol. Like I'm currently reading the Eragon series and if I was in it, I decided I wouldn't be a dragon rider but I would be a strong magician of somesort who would fight with Galbatorix until I changed sides midway through and would ultimately die in the final battle xD (and that's the short version )Like others have said, I think it's perfectly fine to let your imagination run crazy if you are able to still be mature when you have to be.

I chase fireflies, jump on bubble wrap, and play in the snow. As long as you can be responsible and age-appropriate when the situation calls for it, I am all in favor of preserving a childlike sense of wonder about the world. |

Like Ridiculous, as long as you keep it to "playful immature" and not "stupid and annoying immature", it could be a benefit to you if you go into a creative field. Even if you don't go into a creative field, you imagination can certainly be a good coping mechanism for when things get tough for you and you can't do anything about them.

| Posting Anonymously Posts: 34,191 Join Date: Dec 2007 | I'm 21 years old, I pay my own bills, live in my own house, I have a steady job, and I do well in school. In my head, I hang out with samurai, shamans, ancient Greek people, a few Harry Potter characters, and a bunch of horses that can turn into dogs. ![]() Always been this way, and hopefully will always be this way. I would be lonely without the voices. But I am mature when I need to be. As for overall maturity/goofiness, you're 16, for goodness sake. When I was 16, I was an 'Otaku' with anime stuff all over my room. (And backpack, and clothes, and everything else.) I still made good grades and kept a good job, and got into college. So it's all ok. I am still silly and goofy around my close friends, because that is my personality. I am mature and professional when I need to be (work, school, talking with the nice policeman, etc.). It's a matter of learning to control yourself, and act maturely when you need to. But you don't *always* have to be so serious. ![]() ![]() |
