staring that happened in a straight bar/club..please interpret

i went to a bar party with friends. this was straight. i got a lot of attention that night from women and men. there was one guy that i know was gay there and he kept looking at me and even tried making light conversation which i obliged him but i was not interested in him so i just let it die out. women were checking me out too.

on to the juicy part...there was one guy there that was VERY masculine and honestly kinda rough looking. this is usually not my type (rough types) but for some reason i found him attractive. i noticed he kept staring and looking away at me. there was no smile no nothing. i would glance back and loook back as well but i did not smile or anything because he looked like he could do damage to me if i was wrong about all this. anyway, i caught him looking a few times throughout the night. but i just chalked it up something else and did not think about it. he did not stare long it would be quick glances where noone else coudl see or when he put his beer up to his mouth, he would look and look away when he put the beer down. he was with other rough looking types so noone could see what he was doing. i just thought maybe i was seeing thigns and he wasn't gay.

anyway, so i was standing by myself at one point next to this cd table they had at the club and he came from one side of the room and when he passed by where i was standing his touched my arm (tapped me on my arm) and slideby the area i was at to sell these cds he was promoting because the performer was there that night and i guess he was with the band. as soon as he did that, i asked him how much the cds were and he told me. i was thinking that would start up a little conversation but it didn't. he didn't smile or anything or give me an indication that i could keep going down the conversation path so i just left it alone. i ended up leaving that night early so i didn't see himi before i left. do you think the arm touch/tap was a "signal" or do you think i was reading into this?

Hard to say. In general, straight men don't really touch other straight men when they meet them. Maybe he was flirting, or maybe he was just trying to sell some CDs.
