Default (Lesbian) pubic hair stress

I can't figure out what to do with my public hair. It's not very thick, but it does not take well to shaving or waxing - both cause lots of ingrown hairs.

So, I've gotten into trimming. I use my trimmer on the longest setting, which leaves my hair about a quarter of an inch long. This is fine, except that the girl I'm seeing is completely shaved, and I'm worried that it's unpleasant to go down on someone with actual pubic hair. Is that the case?

My other main option is to use the trimmer on the shortest setting. This leaves my skin slightly irritated, but not bad. It looks neater than the longer hair, but I'm worried that the hairs are just long enough that they'll scratch my gf's face. (This tends to happen to me when she hasn't shaved for a few days.)

I have a slight preference for the first option. What would you guys do?

Note: I realize the obvious answer is to talk to her, but I think my pubic hair should be my decision, as long as it isn't unpleasant for her.

Well, like you said, the obvious answer is to talk to her. You don't have to decide based on her, but for all you know it doesn't bother her at all, and your worry is for not. If you think the shortest option is too short, perhaps try a setting somewhere in the middle?
