So, I've been curious about this for a while, but too nervous to Google about it. How thorough is a sex change exactly? Both ways? If one were to get one, are there physical give aways? Also, how much would such a thing cost? What exactly do they do surgically?

From what I have read, the resources for MtFs are much better than those for FtMs right now. It is much easier to construct a functioning, realistic-looking vagina using penile tissue that responds to pleasure than it is to construct a working penis. Most post-op MtFs fully recuperate after a few months to a year and are capable of orgasm.

This. SRS surgery for MTFs is now to the point where a good surgeon can do a job that takes another trained doctor to be able to tell that there's a difference. It has come SUCH a long way... and that is fantastic. Sadly, SRS surgery for FTMs is still fairly mediocre for the most part. At least, in my opinion. Phalloplasties can leave horrible scars, and there are other surgeries, but really... eh.

Are you just curious, or is there a specific "direction" you're interested in? Like, MTF or FTM? Prices vary, as does what happens during surgery, depending on which surgery is being done.
