I have no idea about when under, but I've never had it coming out of it. In any case, if it is a thing, the dentist will expect it and won't make anything awkward.

Not that I've ever heard - I think the chemical effect of the anesthesia will override any natural inclinations in that territory.

And as Mogget said, if it is a thing, the doctor will expect it and not care.

Yea, like everyone has said, if it is a thing... the doctor won't be surprised. On the other hand, if you want to make sure, just wear a slightly long shirt that covers that part... like a black colored shirt will help hide it. Black tends to sorta hide the form and shape a little. But I couldnt remember anything... when it was all done, I was in a wheelchair and proceeded to get up and the nurse was like... what are you doing!? I thought it was funny. But, don't worry, it will all be fine

Usually the combination of the anesthesia, the coldness of the room and the stress of having surgery eliminate the option of having an erection while under anesthesia. It is possible and it does happen however unless you're having surgery on your groin area, that area is generally covered during surgery, so no one would be aware that you ever had an erection.

The comments about the erection sound good, however, you might talk about stuff randomly and never remember what you said. At least that happened to me when I had my wisdom teeth removed and another time when I broke my arm and they put me under to set the bone. I don't like the idea of unconsciously saying stuff and others hearing it. I hope I didn't say anything I wouldn't say in front of people while conscious.

Hmmm, I think what makes it on the videos are only the rare cases, because, at least for me, I never said anything... like when I woke up, I focused my eyes and tried to assess my surrounding - where I was, what I'm sitting on - while I tried to remember what happened. All I remember was getting on a chair and them fiddling with some things ... nothing about the surgery. My brother only said "where am I?"...like he usually does and everyone else I've talked to never had anything like that. I wouldn't worry about it. On the extremely rare chance it happens - blame the gas and dust it off like it was nothing.

Yea, that's exactly what I was thinking of too. Obviously I don't remember talking while under, but that's what I was told. I do remember talking some after I woke up and was talking in that hazy/drunk kind of way. Everyone is different so who knows how you'll react. I hope you'll be fine and like SunSparks said, just blame it on the gas if you say something you didn't want to.

I don't know why people go under for this procedure. I used laughing gas and some numbing shots and it did the job. There's always a risk with anethaesia (sp?).

anaesthesia - but close enough!

If your the sort of person who has vivid dreams and stuff, you're likely to do the same when you come out of the influence but I don't think professionals will take any notice - they're used to people reacting in different ways.

I was once the patient of a really cute dentist (red hair - the works) and I was always worried about NOT being under anaesthetic! Just far too tempting - just lie back - relax - open wide - say Aaaaaaah - now wash and spit!

I've had my wisdom teeth since I was 15 and have had no trouble with them - just I'm just lucky'

Good luck with the surgery - and don't worry - it will be fine.

It depends on how far the wisdom teeth have come out at the time of the surgery. If they're mostly out, it's a much easier procedure than if they're impacted.

Most of them can come out under local alone (even if impacted) but most people are also too anxious to see the procedure happen fully conscious.

This kind of thing does not bother me so much as the thought of dying under general anesthesia. I once had a moderately impacted tooth removed under local alone (no sedation, just an analgesic) and it was hardly as terrifying as trusting the oral surgeon with my life. I haven't made a game plan as far as my wisdom teeth goes, but if they can't come out under local alone, then I won't remove them until they cause problems.

Anxiety and complicated wisdom teeth. I had 6 that needed to be removed cause they were impacted (had 3 on the lower right). Between that complicating matters, my anxiety level at the dentist is already high enough for concern and even at the hospital when they were setting me up for the procedure they were concerned that i still had elevated blood pressure and heartrate after the first round of sedation. (There was somethign to calm me down, then valium on the way to to the OR, and then full anaesthesia)

I did this. After the valium, my inner monologue apparently wasn't inner anymore and the one nurse was really hot. My doctor had said it nonchalantly to my parents going over how the operation was while i was in recovery. I didn't remember anything after the valium went in the IV so i didn't even know until i came out to my parents 5 years later.
