Finals are on Saturday Night.

I'm stopping the night at my friend's to watch it.

Anyone else watch this amazing annual event?

With the worst song ever (as it have always been) from Denmark? no way im watching that thing... might turn it on after he was thrown out by the crowd.

I'll probably be stressed out with exams but I'll still probably make the effort. I remember watching it a couple of years ago and enthusiastically yaying and booing and very loudly accusing the Polish point-giving person of kidnapping people and raping them in his basement even though I was in a bar and not my living room.

I'll be watching it if I can find a way! We don't have a TV license or TV aerial so I can't watch it on TV. I have been trying to find if any of the local pubs are doing anything, but haven't found anything yet.

Hopefully there will be streaming video online and I can get the sound from Radio 2 - and they won't be too far out of synch! Any ideas, anyone?

It's the one day each year I wish we did have TV. The other 364 days I don't care.

I have been listening to the CD this evening. Our song is hopeless, and I suspect we'll be coming close to last again. I think we have given up trying.

Is it streaming anywhere live in the internet?

It should be on http://www.eurovision.tv That's where we'll be watching it from.

There is a "watch again" for Tuesday's semi-final on there now.

You need a liscence to watch TV?

Paul_UK
21st May 2008, 04:07 PM
In the UK, yes. It pays for the BBC, which doesn't have adverts. You need a license even if you never watch the BBC channels but watch other channels. You don't need a license if you have a TV for playing DVDs or gaming though.

Lordi is the worst ever mix of people that cant sing nor play instruments ever. I'd listen to anything over that

I tried to watch the semi-final through the streaming video on www.eurovision.tv this evening but it kept cutting out and losing connection etc. Hopefully it will be working better on Saturday, but I doubt it.... :(

The first semi-final has just started on the television here and I have it on in the background. There really isn't much else on, hence why I am watching Eurovision.

Has anyone seen the music video for the UK's entry? Its is so stupid, Andy Abraham with his cheesy dancing, when I first saw it I burst out laughing!!

The watch again works well though. I am watching last night's semi-final now. So I'll probably end up watching the final on Sunday.

The guy in the Iceland duo was rather cute! :eusa_danc

Don't think of it as a serious music contest. Although it is supposed to be, most of us enjoy it because of its naffness and cheesyness - and for Wogan's commentary! The predictable voting adds to the fun too. :icon_wink

Our entry is DREADFUL! Probably our worst ever. A Sidney Youngblood sound-alike... At least Scooch were fun and different. I'd be surprised if we get into double figures this year, most likely we will get zero unless Ireland or Malta feela sorry for us.

A useful tip.....

If you play one of the watch again ones in Internet Explorer then look in your Temporary Internet Files folder you will find a file about 600MB named Octoshape or Octoshape.wmv. This contains the whole program with no protection at all! Copy it somewhere safe then you can watch it again whenever you like!

The UK came joint last, where we deserved to be.

How about this for a Promo...

"The Eurovision Song Contest:
Taking abysmally bad music and tasteless kitsch to new heights since 1956".

Pretty accurate, doncha think? ;)

Yep, that's why we love it!

Over 50 years and still going though, so there must be plenty of others who love it too. :icon_wink

I loved the show last night, the winner wasn't too bad :) Shockingly low position for us though, and how on earth did UK give Greece top marks? I thought she was dreadful.

Paul_UK
25th May 2008, 11:50 AM
Was she pretty? Straight drunk blokes in the pub voting perhaps? ;)

That's one reason why I voted for Iceland.....

Meh... this year was really depressing. They all sang sad or slow or sad and slow songs and all my enthusiasm to be jumping around to camp stuff like Ukraine 2007 had just went out the window.

The guy was cute in Iceland, and the song was okay.

Lativa was awesome, I loved all the piratey shiz.

But I think I'd have to vote for Ukraine again this year. Not that I have voted at all but Ukraine or Latvia should have won, not Russia or Italy or Greece. They were terrible.

Serbia were rubbish last year. I dunno how they won. Although their opening act was pretty good, and was better than most of the songs playing in the actual performance.

Better luck next year, eh...?
