Okay so last night everyone in the house had a drink as it was my brothers 18th.

It was just me, my dad, and mel (his girlfriend) in the kitchen.

I was reading the back of DVD sarcasticly and acting really excited.

And my dad (who was MASHED) said
"you know what michael, if i didnt know better id think you were queer"
then he laughed

we had like a two hour conversation between the 3 of us about if id met anyone and if im sure.

My dad still thinks its a phase.
But im not holding it against him.
Its not his fault.

Then his girlfriend was asking me if im interesting in anyone and she was so supportive and understanding etc.

I asked my dad what would he do if i brought a boyfriend home.
Mel butted in loudly and said " he'd be welcome with open arms"
and my dad just slumped. So i asked again.

He said he would say to him
"This is just a phase michaels going through so don't get too cosy"

Then mel shouted at him and i had a go.

haha i don't think he remembers the conversation :)

It was fun though.
I could talk about it openly and we were having a laugh :)

Im happy :)

Is it possible to borrow Mel for difficult conversations with parents?

Hahahaha! Well it looks like your dads girlfriend will keep him in line!

Seriously though just give him time. The fact that he didn't react too negatively and the worst he thinks is that it is a phase is a good sign and something he will soon realize isn't true. In the mean time you have your dads girlfriend as an ally and for support.

It's great that mel is so supportive. Something tells me that your dad will be fine with it. :icon_wink
