Well, I'm really rather baffled. To have a lover I'd not feel it was possible without them being a friend. Do you mean "lover" in a physical sense? Does emotion come into this?

All these words are too vague for me. Unless it is absolute-just-non-sexual-friend versus absolute-just-sex-partner. In which case I will wholeheartedly immediately choose friend.

If I had to choose between a friend who I really felt emotionally connected to, and a lover who was perfect in body but not emotionally satisfying, I would definately choose the friend. There's really no competition.

I wouldn't find a "relationship" that consisted of just sex satisfying. It could be fun for a while, but I need more :) So, definitely a friend in that case.
