Which foreign language(s) would be your top choice to learn if you could?

I've taken a little of several languages (French, Italian, Japanese, and Spanish) but wish I were fluent in a language other than English.

umm German, French and Italian. It would help me with the classical music studies.
But I should improve my English and Japanese first.. lol

German would be at the top of my list to become fluent in. I understand a bit of it now, but barely enough to hold a proper conversation. Slowly learning more as time goes by.

A couple of months ago I had the opportunity to actually speak with someone in German, that was a very cool experience, and showed that I had actually learned something so far!!

Well, I'm fluent in English and French
taking Spanish and hope to be fluent in Japanese one
day, and possibly Portuguese.

ibsian, is this the "i" land you talk about?
http://www.state.gov/cms_images/map_india1.jpg

URDU ENGLISH PANJABI HINDI FARSI
It just kind of makes sense, Urdu, Pundjabi, Hindi are all
Indian languages, then English an important language for
communication there, and Farsi is spoken in Iran, Afghanistan
Tajikistan and Uzbekistan (so, neighbor countries to India)
and it had a lot of influence on the Hindustani languages
and other languages of the Indian subcontinent.

I am "fluent" in English, Spanish, and Danish but I know Italian, a little French and a drop of German, and intend to learn Portuguese, Russian, Swahili, and Chinese.

I'm thinking I'm going to be a translator.

German, French, Italian, and Japanese.

I'm taking French right now (3rd year), but seriously, I feel like I'm only 1st year level. The only French teacher in my school is TERRIBLE. She engages in off-topic conversation, making it so hard to concentrate in speaking and thinking in French. I sometimes wonder how she got her teaching degree for French...

I would love to learn a bit more French because I took it in middle school and all four years of high school so I find it somewhat wasteful to just discontinue learning it.

I would also learn to speak more of my native tongue, which is Hmong, because i am not as fluent as i'd like to be and i'm slowly forgetting it. Though there are no classes to take for it and so I must learn it through speaking with others and that's a problem in itself...

I dunno why but I get the idea that gay people like learning foreign tongues a lot more than other people. Haha. Well, I speak English, Romanian and Spanish (fluently), I can manage German and Italian quite well, and I can mostly understand and/or speak/read some French, Chinese (Mandarin) and Czech.
Intend to learn Russian in the near future.

Nah, this is far not my 'i'land, 'i'land infact is a country who's name starts with a different letter and is in a different continent. By 'i'land i mean 'my land', and 'i' is the first initial of my name so you can also consider i_____'s land.
keep guessing
:thumbsup:best of luck

a long time. :)

i dont do well in class rooms sometimes, but if im put into the language ill pick it up really fast.

thats what happened when i started asl in a class(a college class actually). i couldnt go to the first 2 classes because of ryla, so i had to jump into a class where EVERYTHING was signed, gestured or written. it was pretty awesome after the first class.

or if i just learn it from a language book, like im doing with swahili.

I speak fluent English, if you couldn't guess. And I'm currently taking Level 2 French in my High School (I'm the top student in the class, so far).

I would love to learn Italian, Russian, and Greek.

I'm pretty fluent in Spanish actually, although I despise the language.
I think it sounds cheap. (No offence to natural-born spanish speakers).

I crave to learn and become fluent in French.
But I can speak at least one or two phrases in all of the following:

Russian.
Italian.
French.
German.
Spanish.
English.
Gaelic.
Arabic.
Chinese.

I can speak English and French. I can read German, but I can barely translate it. I would love to learn how to speak German and Japanese. I would also like to brush up on my French skills. It's funny though, I can sing just fine in those languages.

ROFL! That's hilarious.

I speak English (first language), I'm in Spanish II at school (actually a grade above what I'm supposed to be taking, but still not fluent), and enough French to count, say "I don't speak French", ask for water in a restaurant, and get through a ballet class.

I wanna learn Italian sooo bad!

I took spanish at my elementary school for 8 years, but it was mandatory, and I didn't like it at all. Right now, i've been learning german and have gone to germany before, and I lovee it! If I could learn a foreign language fluently I would learn german definately. But I really do like swedish because it sounds awesome.

I speak english, ok french, beginner german, and i can call someone a cheesehead in dutch :D

But my top one to learn fluently would be french.
Because french accents are so HOT.
And then i could move to france and be around them all the time :D
