Who is your gay icon? I would say Elton John and/or Rufus Wainwright are mine as they've never been afraid of who they are and set a brilliant example to young gay men that it's ok to be who you are.
What about you guys?
Btw, new member so hi y'all

Stephen Fry. Of course.
Marlene Dietrich (bisexual). Just because.

Sylvia Plath was an incredible author.
Still, it would be very strange to describe her as an "icon" at all.

I like Oscar Wilde too. I had a good laugh while reading The Importance Of Being Earnest... I also loved the not-so-funny The Picture Of Dorian Gray.

I actually was in The Importance of Being Earnest (I played Lane, Algie's butler), but my friend was an amazing Lady Bracknell, people would scream everytime she came on stage. It was a good production all around...
I <3 British humor.

I can't BELIEVE NO ONE has mentioned the Legendary Sir Ian McKellen. He's like...my idol...my favourite actor...
Also, KD Lang is pretty cool. And Judy Garland is also pretty rad.

I don't really have a gay icon but I guess it would be Alan Turing + every single homosexual that died for being gay.
They may not be icons, but I admire them.
