Doesn't this hinder the reason people ask their names to be changed for privacy reasons such as against foes or curious parents who might be a bit too snoopy?

If there is anything to suggest that the name needs to be changed for privacy reasons then we won't post about the change on the public forum. I can think of an example from a few months ago that involved a members parents seeing the forum, and his username was immedietly changed and noted only in the staff forum.

If members do not want their username posted for privacy reasons then that is entirely their choice. The only changes you see are the ones that are just members wanting a new name for one casual reason or another. The more serious changes are hidden inside ATS and the mod forum.

I can't think of many examples of members who have changed their name for the reasons you stated above. In my experience most of the people who are in that situation tend to self delete rather than just change their name. Others also come back under a new username, which we can trace based on the information available. :)
