Perhaps something to try - rather than logging finding it empty and leaving again, why not log in and leave it open in another window or tab while you're reading the new stuff on EC or whatever. The longer you stay in there while it's empty, the more likely it is that someone else will come along and see you there.

Also if you do find someone else in there and they don't respond straight away, leave it open as they are probably off looking at something else for a few minutes
