I bought a birthday card for my wife - and I stood in the card store rather lost... I couldn't buy a 'wife' card as we've separated... but a 'friend' card seemed hokey after being married for 9 years, and given how supportive she's been of me. It was tough!

I bought something VERY simple...

On the front it said "You're wonderful" and on the inside it said "and I know wonderful! Happy Birthday"

In the end, I'm not sure it mattered - she was still upset that she wasn't any longer my 'wife' or my parents' 'daughter-in-law', as they had also struggled with what to do and bought a more generic card...

I also bought her a spa gift certificate, which she appreciated, and I bought the kids 'mommy' cards that they could sign and give to her. So she appreciated the gesture anyway - just saw it as another sad reminder. Thats all.

On a happier note - I've also recently purchased a garage door opener for my new house, and the guy is coming to install it tomorrow morning! Yay! (Yes - I know it isn't rocket science to install your own garage door opener - but I'm not particularly handy - ok!?! :help: )
