Hey for all those Victorian Year 12ers out there, hope you all did well in your mid year exams (I didn't have any since I dropped all sciences at VCE :eusa_danc ) and good luck for the GAT - not that it's too important or anything hehe

For those who have no idea what I'm on about, the GAT (General Achievement Test, or as I like to call it Guess And Tick) is a 3-hour general knowledge exam that we do to make sure that our scores truly reflect our efforts at the end of year exams.

So yeah... GOOD LUCK!!

I ACED my psychology exam yesterday. I'm actually aiming for 95%+

As for the GAT - well if you have common knowledge (like how very basic algebra works, and very basic english skills) then you've already done well

Though I was late to it (I blame the connex trains) - Which meant I took my phone in and got it confiscated. Urgh...

Oh damn that sucks! (about the being late and the phone :P)
I honestly did NOT like that question with the butterfly on the cube thing, like who puts a butterfly on a cube anyway? The questions are so random! haha

But that's awesome about your psych exam! Congrats!
A lot of my friends said that they were really happy with their efforts on the psych exam.

Also, I didn't have any mid years because I dropped psych at the end of last year lol, but because I did IPM last year, I took Software Development this year. And in that class there's me, my best friend, and about six year 11 full on let's-program-a-robot nerds. Lol I don't really get half the stuff were doing, but oh well - I got an A for my last sac though, so I'm not complaining

I did software design last year (got a 40 for it :)) - and as for the butterfly question, I tore off a piece of paper and folded the paper myself :P

So, is the GAT much like the SAT or ACT in the states, that is it is not a factor in determining whether you pass or not? Or are they more equivalent to the State standardized tests that are being implemented after the "No Child Left Behind" Act that determines if you graduate to the next level?

The GAT is an extra exam you take. It's essentially a general knowledge test that all students (who are studying a final year subject) must take.

It's basically used as a safe guard. If, for example, you drastically fail your end of year exam (because you're grieving from your mother's death or something), then they look how how well you perform on the GAT, and scale your mark accordingly.

It works the other way around as well. If you "fail" the GAT, and you ace all your exams, then chances are your exams will be investigated to ensure you haven't cheated.

Haha oh that's good thinking! I was sitting there for ages once I'd finished all the other questions trying to do it in my head lol ... guys are supposed to be good at those type of questions!
Nice! Congrats on getting 40 :)
I got a 44 in IPM but that's a much easier subject... although I was really surprised because I spent a lot of class time playing 80s donkey kong haha

Haha nice! Our school has banned MySpace :tears:
Some people got suspended for, uhmm... "bypassing the filters and provoking predatory action" our principal said, lol. He hates MySpace..
