The video is from a German newscast.

All I can say is:

Jesus Christ!!!

Those parents should be in jail for child abuse.

I didn't even know it was possible for someone that young to be that fat.

Her parents show the worst kind of criminal indifference and neglect towards her condition.

The girl should be given free liposuction and then the parents should be made to drink the sucked out fat, before being sent to jail for child abuse/neglect.

I feel pretty bad for the girl. While I don't want to get into the debate of whether or not it's the parents fault or not, it's such a shame that anyone would be allowed to eat that much. It's so sad. :(

Well I don't what it's like in other countries, but actually there's a lot of talk on the news and things lately in England about making this kind of thing child-abuse...
The argument is that starving a child would be considered child-abuse, and the opposite, over feeding them and making them obese, is just as dangerous and unhealthy for the child.
So, it might actually be considered child-abuse in England at some point

The problem with making it child abuse is not all kids are fat because their parents feed them too much. Obesity can be caused by alot of things. I guess like any potential form of child abuse, it would have to be investigated very carefully to determine exactly what the child is eating, family history, and medical testing.

That's very sad for the child. I am unable to watch the video but I believe I have seen this video before on television.
I have major qualms about anyone calling parents of an obese child "abusive". There are, as stated by Becky, many reasons one becomes obese. It isn't just because your parents stuffed you with food. There's genetic predispositions and medical issues. I'll use myself as an example. I am overweight. I'm not like, 300 pounds or anything, but I'm heavier than I should be. My family, dated back through many generations are overweight. That shows a definite genetic predisposition. I have lung problems (unrelated to my weight) that limit how much excersise I can safely obtain. My mother has never shown any signs of abuse towards me and to call feeding me "abusive" is blasphemy. I eat a vegetarian diet, for god's sake.
In extreme cases, where, say, a 5 year old child is 250 pounds, perhaps the situation should be assessed. I still say it isn't abuse- even if it is negligence. The parents should be educated, not imprisoned.

I wanted to add that I did read the blog entry and that it's very irresponsible- but not criminal.

It seemed in the video that the mother was defending the child eating that much and being that weight. A little hard to tell, given that the German commentary overrode the original American conversation - but that is how it seemed...and that, to me, is both sad and irresponsible. Then again - the mother hardly looked to be in the "healthy weight range" herself...

Yeah, her parents are both fat fucks as well and the little girl learned her eating habits from her parents. For God's sake, her parents certainly know that being so massively corpulent is not good for a person, yet they keep giving her more food. What they are doing to her is criminal child abuse and neglect.

I have working understanding of German and from what I could hear on the German voice-over, the (not so) little girl starts crying and throwing tantrums if she doesn't get food. Her parents have so inculcated her that the vast quantity of food she eats every day is normal that she can't cope without it.

Her parents need to have the shit slapped/kicked out of them.

I believe that must be relate to DNA or something.

I mean how a 7yo girl could weight 3.5 times bigger than me:eek:

She eats among other things:

10 McMeals
5 L of Coke
and 2 kg of chocolate

every day of her life.

Her total daily intake amounts to 10 000 calories! To put that in perspective, a healthy, 25 year old, 80 kg man requires about 2500 calories a day.

Genetics play no role here, it is purely a case of eating way, way, way too much.
