Since this is a roughly new and growing forum, I thought it would be nice for everyone to introduce themseves and get to know each other. I'll start-
I am 16 years old and I live in the great state of Minnesota. I enjoy playing a lot of guitar, computer games, snowboarding, and just hanging out. I also am a huge star wars fan. I am currently in 10th grade and still in the closet. I hope that this forum becomes a place where I can for once, express my true feelings.

great topic idea!
my name's tyler and i'm also 16 (popular age, no doubt!) and i'm from illinois. i like to hang out with my friends, write songs and jam out in guitar sessions at the local cafe, and just doing anything that's fun. i've worked since i was 14 and love my job and school very much. i plan on being a secondary history teacher after i graduate college. i'm techincally "out" to several people and that number grows everyday...it feels great, too!

Hi guys,
Well you're all around the target age-group this site was intended for. Welcome!!
This site actually came about as a result of some people your age signing up on an 18+ gay forum and getting banned for being underage. This bought about some discussion about what's available to under-18's. We found that there isn't much, and some of what is out there is rather freaky! We felt that there was a need for somewhere safer, hence Empty Closets (run by the guys who run the 18+ one, so they know what they are up to).
I'm one of the oldies who moderates this forum (although it doesn't really need much moderating at the moment). For the most part I'll leave you to discuss things between yourselves, but I'll probably give you "the benefit of my experience" from time to time (which you can always ignore!) :icon_lol:
I'm gay, fully out (came out at 27 athough with hindsight I knew since I was abouy 14), and have lived with my partner for around 12 years. I work in IT, and hobbies include collecting and restoring vintage radios, website design and DIY.

Hi,
Another one of the older crew here :icon_lol:
Paul covered prety much most of it i think. As he said this place came about because many of us were realy shocked by some of the sites that were out there aimed at younger guys. There was little advice offered to people who wanted it and in the worst cases people were having a virtual finger pointed and being made fun of when thay asked quite serious questions or wanted to share personal fears, thoughts etc.
Anyway, as Paul said there are several of us here if you need us and we will chip in from time to time and help where we can.
As for me, I am in my 30's , been out to family, friends and work for years and live with my partner.

:D Hi, my name is Susan, and I'm a lesbian. I don't see any other members yet who are, but I still think this forum is a great idea and hopefully more will join and find a place to express and be themselves.
I'm a divorced Mom of two boys, I have a wonderful partner (Tricia) and we couldn't be happier together. In fact April 22nd we are going to Canada to be married. I'm so thrilled and excited. Tricia and I have been together nearly 8 yrs. now, she is the love of my life. I live in Seattle and am a massage therapist, which is the most awesome job for me. I love making people feel good and getting paid for it is just amazing to me. I hope to get to know each of you better and look forward to whatever comes along. Oh, by the way...my youngest brother is also gay and he's just awesome. Two in one family, lol....my parents did something right:D
hugs to all,

I guess I'll jump on the bandwagon too. My name is Bryan, I'm a 21 year old university student from Canada (originally born in Toronto, now attending school in Kingston, Ontario).
I've been out since I was 17, but it's never really been a big deal for me. My high school had tons of out gay guys, so that's wasn't an issue, and my parents have a couple of gay couples as friends so they also took it pretty well.
So yeah, now I'm in my 3rd year of electrical engineering, happily in a relationship (of 1 1/2 years) with my awesome bf (we're moving in together in a month... can't wait).
Here's a picture or two of me for the curious:

That's me in a nutshell!

and another cowboy? can i say THANK GOD? :D.. teacher, too! i want to be a high school history teacher in the future so it's good to see someone who's "living the dream." what's it like?
The cowboy comes from the fact I attended Oklahoma State University, home of the cowboys. I teach middle school math (pre-algebra and algebra).
What's it like? Hmm, some days it's a challenge, then other days it's great. Just like students have boring classes and ones they enjoy; teachers have it the same way. I love my algebra class and 2nd period pre-algebra kids. They're talkative and while math may not be their favorite subject, they at least pretend to like it. My "thug and slug" class is worse than having a root canal with no painkillers. They just sit there and stare into space -hello, anyone there... You're always gonna have that one person that drives you crazy (I'm sure there's someone in one or two of your classes that you wanna strangle). Most of the time, tho', it's a good experience.
The teachers in my building are cool. The majority of them know I'm gay and have no problems with it. Not sure if my new principal has figured it out or not. It's not something he and I have sat down and discussed. I'm just simply who I am, no secrets. I think my students have put 2 and 2 together and come up with 3 on me. They're always wanting to know if I'm dating someone, and if not, they have an older sister -and brother- they'll set me up with. I just politely smile and let them know that I can find my own dates.
History would be a cool subject to teach. I'd of course have to come dressed up as Lincoln, a soldier, or whatever historical figure we're studying at the moment.

I'm Aaron, 19, live in Coquitlam (suburb of Vancouver), BC, Canada. I'm out of the closet and loving it. I work for Starbucks (yes, I know, capitalism at its best) and love it.
Sailing is my favourite thing to do. In fact, I plan on doing some next weekend, which is when the season starts for my local association. I'm a Green Instructor (which means I can certify basic levels) and have my Bronze Sail V (upper advanced sailing).
I'm in year one of college...with too many left to go. I want to transfer to SFU, but that will be a while. Right now, my goal is to be able to move to France after my Associate Degree is done, and everything I do is focused on that.
I was really glad to see this site had been started. It would've helped me while I was coming out, and I'm sure it will help those of you who are still struggling/confused/or whatever.

Hi,
I just found the group/blog. I would like to introduce myself. I am 50, white, male, masculine, gay, kind, tender, etc. I know many of the younger guys and gals have complaints on how they are treated, and they are very valid. I would like to share what it was like decades ago. Well, I won't go into a long perhaps boring story but when I was 16 - 20s, we were more than in the closet. Most of the guys I knew ended up getting married to women to prove they were not gay, or at least to get along in society. None of them turned straight. None of them were happy. Most of us even had a child or 2 which of course must mean you are not gay, right! crap huh? Oh, I wish I had it to do over again. Another thing is that there appears to be so much more support in terms of groups, meetings, internet sites, etc though I notice they are 99% aimed at teens and 20 something people. Us older guys are ignored a bit by both the gay community and the straight society.
Anyway, I am glad to find this blog. If anyone wants to share stories, talk, or ask questions I am here.

26th Mar 2005, 03:30 AM
Hi walkinghorse,
You are certainly welcome here. Although this forum is designed for younger people who are not served by adult gay forums (so no "over-18 only" content here etc), we welcome anyone who finds the discussions interesting and helpful.
You don't actually say whether you are now out or not. I came out at around 27, and although I wish sometimes I could have gone back and done it at 16. But on the other hand, if I had I would never have met my partner of 12 years.
I am 40, and I was 16 the age of consent here in the UK was 21 - which seemed a lifetime away. Being gay is more acceptable now than it was in our time. However we are still a LONG way away from total acceptance, and it varies widely between different countries and regions.
Although it may be a bit less difficult for people to come out today than it was for us, it certainly doesn't make it all that much easier. It may be a bit less horrible outside that closet, but it still doesn't look welcoming from the inside. Many of the issues we faced (and indeed still do face even when out) are the same, and everynody's individual circumstances are different.
This forum allows everyone to help each other by sharing experiences and advice - and there are no age limits on that!
Paul.

Hey guys;
Soilwork here. I'm Canadian but have recently moved to Hollywood and I work in what I'd better call the film industry for the purposes of this forum.
I ride a motorcycle, a Buell Lightning XB12, I have a dog named Halford and I'm a big fan of Metal.
I came out slowly... from the time I was about 14 until I was 19. My parents weren't extremely comfortable with it all, but they came around and are now very active membes of PFLAG... and I can't tell you how much that helped them. So much so that they now help others.

Hey everyone,
I'm David (like, there's a surprise!!) and I'm another one of the 'oldies' from the other site. I'm 39 and have been 'out' for the past 18 years. I work in the entertainment industry with many young people ranging from 8-24 years of age, and I'll be dropping by to see if there's any advice, opinions or news I can share with you guys.
If this develops the way the other site has, then this is going to be an invaluable caring community for young people and their families and friends to turn to.

Hi ya,
I've posted on the other (18+) forum before but this one sounds more what i'm looking for. I'm 21 and live in England just north of London. I enjoy movies and driving arround in my car. I'd like to get into skiing as i have a strange feelnig that i'll love it even though i've never been near a slope.
I'm still in the closet and have only admitted i'm gay to myself in the last 6 months although i've probably known since i was 18.
Hope to talk to all of you more soon.

I am Crazy-Woohoo-Nuts... I mean Sebastien. Actually Sebastien's not my birth name but I was hoping ever so much that you'd call me that anyway.
I'm from the other site as well and while it is a good community as well (parts of it at least) it's nice to not be the young one on the board. I'm not all that old, though, only 19. Just so ya know, I'm actually bisexual and not completely gay. As for being out I'm only out to one person: my girlfriend (the one person who needs to know the most, really). My mom's convinced I'm gay (and unfortunately I think she has my brothers convinced as well) and my dad doesn't really show any interest what I am so I'll just let them think what they want to.
Anyway I'll be seeing you crazy chickens around then.
P.S. To whoever made this site: hehe... even the smilies selection has been underage-ified. Good work you guys.

I had to look it up online as i'm not familier with the place, it's about an hour and a halfs drive away so not that far although ENgland's not that big a place. Can seem too small but does mean i can drive anywhere in a few hours.
What kind of music do you play in your school band mate?

our school's band has about 400 students, and has 5 concert bands. we play mostly music that was written or arranged for concert/symphonic/wind band. we play pretty much all styles, from classical to modern. we also have 3 jazz bands, a pep band, a pit orchestra, and marching band. as u can probably tell, our school is big in music.
about 150 of us went on the Euro tour, we played in the Madaline church in Paris and the Anvil concert hall in England.

Well, I don't like to give out my name online... I know it's stupid and that anyone with a brain can track my IP adress down and start back from there, but those are not the people I'm worried about.
Well, that said I'm Goratrix, or so you will find me in any gay-related site. Perhaps goratrixhole (you know, sometimes the nick is taken).
I'm 18 (almost 19) and gay. Still in the closet to the world except one person (two if you count me) and the JUB and EC cominities, of course ;-)
I like reading, particularly sci-fi books, but I also enjoy pretty much everything there is to read out there. I'm a Vampire, WOD, Werwolf: the apocalypse, WW: teh forsaken Storyteller, and a D&D Dungeon Master (I know it sounds sexual, it isn't!) I really like RPGs... so that's most of my life. Also, I'm a TAU general (Warhammer 40000).
About music, I like voltarie, Eagles, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, some local groups you probably won't know like Seru Giran, Sui Generis, Vox Dei. And some metal groups like metallica, megadeath, nightwish, katatonia...
And oh, yeah! I'm a big freaking nerd! I am a linux system administrator, and I'm studying computing ingeneering.

I wouldn't totally rule it out, although now may not be the time. Maybe in the future you will start at a new school/college or job with completely new people who don't know you, and you can let them know the real you from day one.
Anyway, you've come out to everyone here (although since most of us are gay or bi anyway I guess that's rather easier). Welcome!

I agree with Paul. I used to think I would never come out. Now, life has led me to the point where it was a life or death choice. I really couldn't take it any more, and sice I can't kill myself, it would devastate all those who supported me through most of my life's roughest moments; I had to choose life. And I'm glad I did.

Yeah, I reckon it's better to wait until you have moved out and can take care of yourself before telling your parents - but that's not always possible.
It's easier for you and them if you're not living together while they are adjusting to the news (which can take some time). Having you as a constant reminder of the "problem" around can make it more difficult. They will need their space and so will you.

Friends you do everything with, so I don't mind not having a lot of friends. 24, House, LAO:SVU, ER are the best shows on TV. Elton John, Queen, Fleetwood Mac, Blink-182, Coldplay, CCR, Dashboard Confessional, Goo Goo Dolls, Matchbox 20, The Killers, Gaelic Storm (I know it's a big range of music) are the best artists on my playlist. I'm a cablenews junkie. My social security number is 014-41.....

Hi,
I'm 30 and in Vancouver (BC, Canada). I have a computer science degree but I'm thinking of going to grad school in sociology. I work at UBC, a local university.
I've been on the Internet since before most of the world knew it was there (1992) and I've been doing the offering advice/support thing for quite a while, too. I'm pretty opinionated which I'm sure if you've read any of my postings here you've figured out. :)
I'm a bit of a TV drama junkie... I watch a LOT of 1-hour shows like Everwood, Alias, Lost, Joan of Arcadia, The OC, West Wing, One Tree Hill, Smallville (if I can stomach it), Dead Zone, the new Battlestar Galactica, Veronica Mars (watch it... it's great), Judging Amy, Jack and Bobby, and Desperate Housewives. Obviously I used to watch Buffy and Angel.
Hmmn... what else? I see a lot of movies, eat out pretty much all the time, live in a really nice apartment that's too expensive for me, and have a great group of friends who I would like to spend more time with but they all have lives, which is quite depressing. *grin*
Oh right... I've also collected comic books for ages. Mainly the superhero ones from DC and Marvel but I've done a little branching out at times.
And that's about it...

My name's Bryan, I'm 16 years old (17 in a couple days!) and I'm Canadian (well, I have German, Russian and Mongolian paternal ancestry; and Irish, Manx, English and Scottish maternal ancestry). I live in Saskatchewan, I'm male and I'm gay. (Btw, Saskatchewan is a central Canadian prairie province and is the one that is most against same-sex marriage in Canada, woo hoo for me!)
I realized I was gay in Grade 7 (about 12 or 13 years old). I immediately became really depressed. I, for some reason, decided that I would then have to hide everything about myself just incase I accidentally 'gave away' that I was gay or something. After that my personality kinda changed completely; I went from being sociable and always joking to quiet, reserved and serious. I've also developed Social Anxiety Disorder (tho', maybe that's not related...). Now, I feel like I've been hiding for so long that it's hard for me to just talk to people anymore... Anyways, after my initial depression, I moved into a denial/ignorance stage for about a year before I kind of just accepted it.
I've only come out to two people and only on-line: A completely random gay guy I found on the internet because I was feeling incredibly overwhelmed... and then later to my German e-mail penpal. (My German penpal's response to my "Ich bin schwul" was "Oh, that's fine. So am I!"). So, I've never come out to anyone person-to-person or to someone who was straight. Oh, and I have come out to all of you now, of course.
Quick History: I've grown up my entire life in one tiny small town (to give you an idea: there were two other males in my grade). I've never known any other gay people and for years felt like I may be the only one. This last year I changed schools and so I've been going there for ~8 months. Anyways, this school is in a city (small city, but city nonetheless). So, it seems like there finally may be some gay people here and so I've had to kind of face my sexuality and think about it. Anyways, here I've met this one gay who is effeminate, camp, flamboyant, etc. and everyone thinks he's gay and I've become friends with him... but I'll talk about him in another post sometime.
I've thought about coming out to my brother who I'm close to and who is very liberal minded (in fact, he's even talked about how homosexuality isn't a choice, etc. before) but I'm afraid it would change our relationship a lot. Also, I've thought about coming out to my mother because we're really close but I' m afraid it would push up apart, and I'm financially dependent right now... and she keeps sending mixed messages (sometimes she talks positively and thoughtfully about homosexuality but sometimes she also says "Oh, they'd be devastated if they (some rich neighbours of ours) had a gay son."). Also, I've thought about coming out to my friend who seems gay. But, we haven't been friends for that long (5, 6 months?) and maybe he's not gay (and then wouldn't reciprocate) and he might tell the whole school and there could be problems there... ...
Some interests are linguistics, ancient history, languages, cultures, fiction, writing, music, sciences, and there's more but who cares. I play the violin, viola and piano, and I like to compose music sometimes but I'm not very good...
And I can't think of anything else worth writing. Anyways, I apologize for the length of this... okay, tschau!

Welcome to the boards!! :)
I think that you will find that you really aren't alone, especially on this forum board. It will also help you with many problems that you might have.
I just wanted to say that your life seemed very similar to mine. Before 6th and 7th grade I was very talkative and socialable. Then I slowly started to stop talking to more and more people, and finally in 9th grade I felt so alone. Man 9th grade was my worst year. Then this year, it has been much better. Although I have not come out to anyone, I am a lot more socialable and am not as afraid to express my feelings. Coming to this board and visiting other gay-helping websites has also aided me a lot.
Seeing as how you play violin, viola, and piano, you must play classical music. I play classical guitar and I'm trying to write something (doesnt have to be classical style) for this documentary that my cousin is doing. Maybe you could help me? lol. I just need to figure out some chord progressions to get started (my theory isnt very good). I would be interested to see what you have composed yourself.

I live in Saskatchewan, I'm male and I'm gay. (Btw, Saskatchewan is a central Canadian prairie province and is the one that is most against same-sex marriage in Canada, woo hoo for me!)Hey there! I'm from Vancouver... I thought Alberta was the province most against same-sex marriage. Not that Saskatchewan wouldn't necessarily be a close second but they have a strong NDP history so you think that would count for something.
But, we haven't been friends for that long (5, 6 months?) and maybe he's not gay (and then wouldn't reciprocate) and he might tell the whole school and there could be problems there... ...I got some pretty mixed messages from my parents, too, so I know how you feel. Is your brother older? I guess it could change your relationship a lot... or it might not. I mean, in the ideal world, he just finds out something he doesn't know about you yet. In the practical world, there is definitely a difference between saying you're okay about gay people and then finding out someone close to you is one (this is usually more a problem for parents because they have all these expectations for their children's lives, whereas siblings don't usually build things up to quite that level). One of the issues he might face if you told him is that he might feel bad keeping that from your parents. Or he might be fine with... siblings often keep their parents out of the loop about certain things. But it's something to consider if you give the idea some more thought.
As for your friend who seems gay to you, well... if you do come out to him, I'd recommend not letting on you think he's gay because people often get upset when people assume things about them, especially about their sexuality, even if it's blatantly obvious. I would just tell him as a friend if you decide you want to tell him.
Anyway... welcome!

Hey Everyone -
My name is Jordan, I go to school in South Dakota, actually I think I'm the only person from South Dakota on this, and I'm still finding myself. I am a huge Music geek - I sing in choir and play my baritone saxophone in our Symphonic and Jazz Band.
The reason I say I'm still finding myself is because I'm in a long longterm relationship (with a girl) but have been showing attraction to a few guys for a year now... so I basically just need to find out who I really am. I thought this would be the best place to just let it all out... I haven't told anyone about this feeling I've been having and tend to keep it that way until I know for sure how I feel, and that's why I joined this! So in advance thanks for everything!

I played the clarinet in high school but nothing since. I've always wanted to be able to play the piano. *sigh*

Wow - I really want to learn to play the piano too! Im a biology major with a music minor, and I can sing really well and play my saxophone really well, I just cant play the piano - sure I can plunk out notes but thats about it!! so I'm feeling ya on the whole *sigh* thing!

I'm a 20-year-old euromutt* from Maryland (right outside of Washington, DC) and gay. I've had some issues trying to figure out who I am, but I'm pretty confident I know... just having a few problems getting to full acceptance. I'm a college student studying political science and am "out" to a few of my closest friends.
If I had to say what my one true interest and love is, it's music. I played in the symphonic band from elementary school through high school (trumpet, baritone, French horn) but now most of my focus is on the indie and 80s rock revival scene haha, I love it :eusa_danc . Most of the time you can find me in the clubs along U Street in the District (that is, when you're not busy being accosted by homeless people or getting mugged... gotta love DC). Yeah, so hit me up some time, I love to talk.

*My family's from so many countries that it's just easier to call myself a "euromutt" because to name out all the places would be a lot of unnecessary typing!

Hey!!
I'm Jacob and I live in the OC in California!! I am 17 (about to be 18 this Friday :eusa_danc ). I also graduate later in June.
Anyways, I love reading and listening to just about any type of music except for country and rap; and I prefer classical music and opera. :eusa_whis ). I belong to five clubs including GSA (gay-straight alliance) and one of our six school choirs.
I also love fashion (go figure) and am a huge Star Wars fan. Saw episode III two times.
I realized that I was gay in about 8th grade, but really didn't know what that meant.
Then sopohomre year, I just accepted it. I am practically out at school. A handful of people know because I told them, and a lot of others know from them. I really don't care who knows because I have such a huge group of friends (mostly girls) who love it.
Ciao

*Shrug* I dunno... maybe the generalization is true... maybe GLBT people are more artistic/cultured? I mean, I don't think it's entirely true (my parents are pretty cultured people and I'm pretty sure they're straight  )... I dunno, maybe it's like how some of the greatest leaders in the world were left-handed (Napoleon Bonaparte, Julius Caesar, Charlemagne, Alexander the Great...) who knows? Maybe there are weird connections in the brain that account for left-handed people's artistic and leadership abilities and maybe the same is true for gay people?
Yep, just somethin' to think about...

Hi everyone! Just joined and I think this is a great site and a safe haven for those who are closeted or coming out and for the ones who already have.
Now to tell you a little about myself. I have studied psychology for a number of years but chose not to make it a profession. I currently work in the technical end of the broadcast industry and a freelance photographer on the side. I like good food, music, people and I love life and do everything in my power to keep it simple.
I joined this site to be an ear, a shoulder or just a friend to all and give advice and share experiences. Although life can be complex I hope I can contribute to making it a little less so. :smilewave

That's very true, but if you play saxophone, like myself, you're very "saxy" and if the bigger the saxophone you play, the more saxy you are. I play the baritone saxophone...draw your own conclusions!

I'm really loving this forum. It's especially good for me late at night, when I'm most vulnerable to thinking that can go on and on if it's not written down. :)
I'm a 23-year-old Korean-American, born and raised in the USA. I graduated from college with a degree in biology, and I'll be starting med school this fall. Love to play tennis and listen to Aimee Mann...
The lion's share of my coming out is done, as I came out to my immediate family and friends while I was in college. I find, however, that coming out is a lifelong process, and I still struggle with it at times, which is why this forum is so wonderful to be a part of.
And since so many here have brought up music... I'm definitely not musically gifted. I took piano lessons for 8 years (and still couldn't play a simple sonatina) and oboe lessons for 6 years (and was the laughingstock of our youth symphony). But I would love to be fluent on at least one musical instrument before I die.

Way too old, 30 - majorly receding hairline here - but the rest is still fine. I came out at 22, met my first boyfriend and married him 4 years later (in Germany where I live it is legal) and we're extremely happy together. (No, I'm not convincing myself)... :p
Uhm, I grew up in very conservative surroundings, but my parents have always been open minded. I had a great childhood, and many friends - many of whom I lost when I came out. It was dificult, but I know that my courage helped others, and that now, 8 years on, it was the best thing to do. So, if I can help, in any way, hey, I'm going to let my fingers do the talking as often as possible!

Hi im Heath, 17 and live in Victoria (Australia), i heard about this site after one of the guys from Victoria's gay/lesbian youth site mentioned it on a forum there. This sounds like a really cool place to meet people from all around the world, which i dont experience much as i live in the country! (though i will be moving to melbourne next year for uni) i enjoy sport, art and music.... especially jazz. i play jazz piano.

I'm sure Melbourne will be fun... I've heard good things about it, not that I've ever been there. I hear it rains a lot but then I'm from Vancouver so I'm sure they're just being wussy whingers about it. :p

Hi, i'm 15 years old and I live in the Golden State of California. I love playing soccer, video games, bike riding, playing the guitar, and hanging with my friends. I love reading the Harry Potter books and watching the movies, although I think they skipped a few things in the 4th movie that I was hoping to see. I'm also in the 10th grade but I havent joined the soccer team cuz i've got too much work. I'am sort of out of the closet. My mom knows and shes ok with it and my uncle knows that i'm a lesbian. I'm not ready to tell my friends yet but hopefully i'll be able to.

Hello. Like soccerchick1990, I'm also fifteen, and I also live in California. err... I like karate, classical music, math and science (I know what you're thinking... you're probably wrong). I'm from Lebanon (a country in the Middle East). I'm gay, and I've come out to three really close friends. I find it hard to talk to either them about it because my descriptions always end up leaving them slightly depressed. I think my family already suspects that I'm gay, but they strongly oppose gay marriage. In the Middle East, a homosexual is a horrible blemish on the family name... So I don't know if I will tell my parents for a while...
Anyway, I've been reading a lot of posts on this forum, and I think it's great :eusa_clap . Thanks to those who created it as well as those who have come to give their advice.
Now that it's 4 am here, I am going to bed to enjoy my remaining two hours of sleep before I have to wake up to go to school.

well, since i haven't done this and you guys are dying to know about me, hehe. Anyway, name's Justin. I'm a native Californian surrounded by Canadians and English in this forum! :D Hmm...what else? I'm currently a high school junior and i also play the trombone like hawkeye, except I don't have one; i used to borrow one from my school but i switch schools. I also play piano and clarinet. I have moderate depression, which sucks, to be frank, but oh well. I spend most of my time online and i have a myspace, which if you care is www.myspace.com/lunchandamovie
I like music, notably Tracy Chapman. I have almost all her albums, including Where You Live. I also like India Arie, Jack Johnson, Gabrielle (from the UK), and various other R&B/Soul, Jazz, and some Rock groups. Hi all!

I'm 13 going on 14 and live in the most anti-gay part of Florida. I'm more femme than stud and don't drink or smoke for those who are wondering. I enjoy singing and writing. "hello" to everyone who introduced him- or herself prior to this post.
so.
my name is Stephen. i'm sixteen years old. (well seventeen in five days.) hm. oh i live in pennsylvania, usa.
i enjoy various things, such as reading, writing, playing videogames, listening to and playing music, learning languages, watching television, procrastinating, invoking sarcasm, keeping the gerund form relevant in this sentence, et cetera.
miscellany to skip over:
favorite books as of now: Edith Hamilton's Mythology, William Faulkner's The Sound and the Fury, Friedrich Nietzsche's Beyond Good and Evil
favorite videogames: Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne, Silent Hill 3
favorite shows: X-Play, Gilmore Girls, a Chinese talk show that probably no one has heard of, sometimes Charmed
favorite bands: F.I.R, JS, DAI...yeah. most of the bands are from Asian countries, so i doubt anyone who mainly speaks english has heard of them.
favorite movies: Brokeback Mountain, Read or Die
gah what else is there? i must seem like a cause of ennui. and i mostly am if you expect me to speak.
see...i'm the type of person who writes, "People truly can receive the rights to adulthood when they are mere moments away from death" on the PSSAs (pennsylvania system of school assessment -- "testing schools' teaching methods"). if you find that morbid or boring, you neglect to see the depth of the philosophy. or maybe i neglect to see the morbidity or boredom of it.
oh i'm out to anyone who asks me. (i really don't see a purpose in coming out to everyone without initiation. why should we have to justify or express our feelings? heterosexual people don't do that.) does that count as fully out? huh. i don't know.
well my parents know, but they're in denial. i find that rather curious. so like a Chinese family.
in conclusion, hello.

LorenzG1950
29th Mar 2006, 11:52 PM
Here goes,
I‘m Lorenz (my middle name) and I live in Mannheim, Germany. My job is diversified, lots of
writing, translating, photography, event organization and community relations, sometimes
DJ and music producer-singer-songwriter. My hobbies include music, reading, harness
racing, professional wrestling (to watch), good movies, and reseach on sexuality.
I was born in Germany and at 6, my parents immigrated to Chicago. I received my education
in the great US school system and I worked several years in electronic and appliance sales.
My parents returned to retire in Germany for health coverage reasons. When they got ill, I
too returned to Germany to help where I could. My older sister and brother are both married
with families, one in Chicago and one in Tennessee.
29 years later, I‘m still in Germany and enjoying the time of my life. Last Saturday, I spent
my first party night at one of the local gay bars until about 4 a.m. Good music, table dancers,
and an electric atmosphere. I didn‘t make any new friends but it was sure fun to look,
the first time without a guilty conscience.
Like many of you here, I‘m stuck in the closet, breaking the door down, now that I know I‘m
gay. If ever there was an example of someone being homophobically brainwashed, it‘s me.
For years, I blocked out the obvious and deprived myself of numerous grand opportunities.
I haven‘t told a soul, except this group, which should be understood as a heavy compliment.
The postings are sincere, real, and worldwide, an amazing opportunity to share similar
experiences (thanks to the moderators).
Almost every morning, I wake up and am overjoyed to be gay. Yeah it‘s easy when you don‘t
have to worry about parents, my brother and sister are far away, and Mannheim is a very gay-
friendly city. If I could project my happiness on some of you, please tell me how.
Of course, there are challenges. I‘m searching for a new apartment in June, my job could be
gone in 3 years, and I have lots of coming out to do. The war in Iraq hurts a lot. Several times
a month, I have the pleasure of welcoming back soldiers and seeing kids cry tears of joy
because daddy is finally home. The smiling faces are precious. Last week, I heard the story
of two returning male soldiers caught kissing. When asked what they were doing, the
response was ‚‘‘ Hey, when you‘re in the desert for a year, you look for alternatives.‘‘
If anything positive is to come out of Iraq, it might be a few soldiers who find out that they
are gay, and are willing to give up their military career because of it. Now those guys are
really hurting. You may as well live in a small town as the son of a Baptist or Mormon minister
and wait for the wrath of bigotry to condemn your soul to eternal damnation.
``Latter Days‘‘ tells the story so well. Sorry about the plug but I‘m planning on converting
every Mormon missionary I see with a free copy of the movie or book. We have lots of them
here, preaching the gospel, and homophobia. The gospel is ok. Homophobia is not. And I
like beer and a good French wine.
Enough ranting. We‘ll deal with the pope another time.
Among my prized possessions, a Gibson Les Paul deluxe from the `70`s, a couple of
thousand CD‘s, a nice library, a laptop, digital camera, and some great friends who accept
me for what I am, so far. In 2 or 3 months, the world might look different. But it sure looks
great today.
Having violated all the rules of brevity according to Shakespeare, I will close by saying that
I‘m older than you are but don‘t know any better. I have age but not wisdom. I listen to
Clapton, Mother‘s Finest, AC/DC, Cheap Trick, Eminem, Staind, Sting, Steely Dan, Tina
Turner, Bryan Adams, Fourplay, Prince, Bob James...
In January, I thought I was hetero, mostly normal. Now I know better. I‘m gay and normal.
And I have a whole new world ahead of me. Nothing could be more beautiful. Most of us
have a long way to go. If we can support each other, nothing can bring us down.
I have many stories to write, photos to take, but a simple post here might mean more than
the sum of any speeches that I get to write for some commanding general. Today I had a
chance to visit an art class at our American high school. Talented kids and a gifted teacher.
Some gay kids for sure that are fighting with their own personality, with damn little support.
How can you be a gay or lesbian kid in the US military system?
There is lots of work to do.
I‘m right in the middle. I love it. I don‘t know if I have the guts to tell a general that we need
better sexual education classes in our high school, and more tolerance.
Keep the faith. Films like ``Brokeback Mountain`` prove that we are embarking on a new
age. Meanwhile, I‘m working on my gradual coming out. My brother with 11 kids will
probably be pissed. My sister will be understanding. My girlfriend, I don‘t know? My boss???
Older doesn‘t mean easier, just different.
I‘m amazed at the maturity and sensitivity of the folks on this forum, demonstrating courage
that I would have never have had in high school. I guess that‘s why I‘m here. That‘s my
story for now. More to follow.
Next!

Hi, well I kinda introduced myself in the other post, but anyway:
My name is Will, I'm 15 and I live in the South-East of England. I design websites and logos for quite a lot of people, including bands and some larger companies. I learn French and Russian for GCSE and I also speak enough Italian, Spanish, German and Croatian to get by. On the musical side, I play the Euphonium (I think it is called the Baritone in the US) and the Trumpet. My ipod contains songs ranging from Hard-Fi and Arctic Monkeys to Gershwin and John Coltrane to Haydn and Bach.
I'm out to a grand total of everyone on this forum and it has made me feel a lot better that there is now at least someone out there who knows and doesn't mind.
I suppose it would also probably be interesting to add that I am an Anglican Christian and that has certainly had an impact on my life in the last 5 years. In some ways, it has made life hard - because I originally believed that it was wrong and I should try to get rid of it, but as I have become more accepting of myself, I have seen things in a different light - All the homophobic stuff in the Bible was written about 1,950 years ago and bears not the slightest resemblance to modern day life. Until very recently being gay was considered an illness like leprosy. I have therefore concluded in my mind that there must be a solid reason for me being gay here and now - and this keeps me going, however strange it may sound.
I apologise if I have ended up getting too far into the theological side of things - wait until I get started on British Politics ;)

well, ello to all...
i am a newly (somewhat) out 16y.o. gay guy...
still getting used to the idea...
im really glad that i found this site because i had been worrying about how this how thing was gonna work out cause there arent that many forums for under 18 gays and all (at least that i can find...) and so yeah...
i suppose i had better introduce myself at least to an extent cause me mummer is paranoid about giving out anything (she was nervous about me giving out my birthday -_-) anywho...
enough negativity
ELLO!
i am the ezbsvs for now and that is all that really matters
i came out to my best friend several weeks ago and since then have been feeling much better about my life and everything. but there was something missing... and that something was no one else like me. in my little corner of the world which happens to be south carolina in the US of A, gay people are not looked upon kindly and the majority of my friends just happen to be conservative republicans... so i think you get what that means. so when i did find a good friend who wasnt, we got talking and eventually he figured out i was gay. it was the happiest day(night) of my life. a week or two later i told me mom. fortunently for me, one of my aunts happens to be a physcologist (sp?) for gays and people with alternate life styles and such.
but, she lives in texas.
so we talk a bit over phone.
but that is really the extent of my life as far as being gay goes.
otherwise, my hobbies mostly include 3d design and other artsy fartsy stuff on the computer and such:icon_mrgr . if you go to my website
( www.ezbsvs.be )you can see some of my better work.
so yeah...
thats about it for now.
like i said before though, im really really glad i found this sight and i hope i can meet other people like me.

I don't really know if there's any help with your particular situation. My personal experience from talking to a lot of guys who are into guys who are just starting to deal with it is that they often feel a need/desire to get married to a woman and have children and can't see themselves living with a guy and describe their attraction to guys as a purely physical thing--and that almost always that's because they've been raised in such a way that a family with a woman is the absolutely only option and that no other options have occurred to them because no other options have been presented to them. That is, it's my personal belief that most guys who start dealing with their attraction to other guys as a purely "sexual" thing do so because they cannot even conceive of having feelings for other guys.
[I have to make a plug for Canada here, because you could marry a guy here, easy as pie. So right there you have another potential way of living your life.]
Stereotypically, guys are supposed to be super-sexual and they're not supposed to be emotional. They're especially not supposed to be emotional about other guys. So it makes a certain amount of sense that same-sex attraction in young guys is gonna manifest first as a primarily sexual thing. I dunno about you, though, but I don't think I've met many people who can have sex with someone and not start to develop some sort of feelings for them. Maybe if you only had sex with them once but I know that personally even if I've had sex once with a guy, I start to get somewhat attached. Not "we're meant to be togther FOREVER" attached but it's usually a pretty intimate thing, sex is.
Anyway, I guess my advice would be to consider what your life might look like if you were to partner with a guy. That's not to say I think you are going to but more like... have you ever thought about that? Or forget partnering... what about just dating?
And anyway, if you're 17 you don't have to be in any rush to get married and have children. At least not in this day and age. You might want to focus on getting out of high school first. *grin*

So, I'm Michael, 18 years old
Live around Boston, but grew up and realized my sexuality in San Francisco (damn my parents for moving from such a great place)
Just graduated from high school yesterday and am saying hello to the new world.
I just came out to an inner group of friends at a Zen Retreat. It is probably the best luck I could of had in being in such a peaceful and understanding place at the time.
I've grown up at a pretty non-conformist, open-minded boarding school, and it's really hard coping with the fact that I wont have this same support anymore as I come home from graduation and prepare for college.

Hello,I am Jennifer and I am a 27 year old "late time" lesbian.I realized I was attracted women when I was married to my now ex husband Kenneth three monthes ago.My ex husband knew something was wrong and I finally came out to him,I told him I feel I am a lesbian and I am attracted to women. We ended up having a divorce after being married a year and half years 3 monthes ago because of differances.I do have a girlfriend in my life now,Trisha and we have been together for 1 month now.I am finally happy and hope to come out to my parents and brother Raymond sometime that I am a lesbian.

Uhhh, well, I guess since this seems rather customary and all...
I am 16, gay (for the most part), and living in Minnesota. I'm pretty out at my highschool, in which I'll be a junior next autumn. At this point in my life, I really don't care who knows about me, although I've made an effort to keep it from my family.
Yeah, I tend to not know what to say with these introduction things, so if I get to know you, you'll get to know me. Done deal, I suppose.

Cool! It's great to know there are other Minnesotans here. And it's such a cool state, although it could be a tad more liberal.
If you've been following the Federal Defense of Marriage Amendment... it failed the Senate just recently... one thing to note is that Mark Dayton voted against it, but Norm Coleman voted for it.
That Coleman makes me mad. :bang:
But I'm rambling; which part of Minnesota are you from?

Hi,
Since this seems the thing to do; I'll introduce myself. I'm Jo, I'm 38, and I'm male-to-female transsexual. I joined this forum on the suggestion of Paul_UK (who I know from elsewhere, we have interests in common mostly revolving around old tech) as he thought it might be useful to have a genuine, real tranny lurking around. I suppose I might be useful for something ;)
I can say I realised there was something wrong right from starting at primary school at age 5. I didn't fit in with other boys; though it took a while to figure out what was really the problem. Cutting a long story short, I realised I was transsexual at age 16, then didn't do anything about it (through fear, mostly) until I was 31. I started off going private, and started hormones and transitioned in 2000. I've lived full-time as female ever since, and haven't regrettted it - I'm not going back; I've definitely done the right thing. Right now, I'm still waiting for surgery, having waited 3 1/2 years to get an initial appointment with the NHS-run Leeds Gender Identity Clinic earlier this year.
Anyway... I live in Leeds with my partner of the last 13 years; I'm "between jobs" at the moment for health reasons unconnected with being TS; and spend my time tinkering about with computers, old radios, television sets and other interesting tech; and occasionally can be found under a classic car with a welding set. Stuff gender stereotypes, I do what interests me :icon_bigg

Hello all My name is Brandi and I am 25. I have been "out" since I was 13 to family and friends, and was outted at school in the 6th grade, it made my life miserable for the next 6 years, but that is over with and now I am a college student in a commited relationship. I am going to school to become a youth counsler for our GLBT youth, I am open for questions or private conversations with troubled youth. You have nothing to fear, being g
