View Full Version : Movie Quote Game

CelebrityHead
4th Jul 2007, 12:12 AM
Okay here's how this is gonna work:

I'm going to start it off by posting a quote from a movie and you then, in your next post, say what movie that quote is from and then underneath write another movie quote for someone else to identify.

Rules
1. If it has been identified correctly once, move on.
2. All posts will be in similar format as the first one.
3. Quotes should be from popular movies so that people will have some chance of actually recognising where the quote is derived from.
4. Disputes will be handled via IMDB :)
5. Quotes don't have to be EXACTLY right

First One:
"To infinity, and beyond!"

davo-man

"Asta La Vista, Baby"Actually it's "Hasta la vista, baby."

Arnold Schwartzenegger, as the T-800, in Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Quite possibly one of the best movies ever made.

Well technically it was Edward Furlong's character who told him to say it. But everyone attributes it to Arnie.

Okay: "A life lived in fear is a life half-lived." (The Australians shouldn't have trouble with this.)

davo-man
7th Jul 2007, 04:05 AM
Strictly Ballroom....I loved that movie esp the last song...."Love is in the Air"

Nope...sorry, but it was American, not that that helps cos most movies are...Actually, if I recall correctly, most movies are Indian, in that Bollywood produces more films than are made in America, or at least close to. Anyway, it's highly ethnocentric to say most movies are American. However, it might be accurate to say most bad movies are. :p

Although there are some really far-too-existential Canadian films and some far-too-surreal French ones.

By the way, I hope I can warn people in time to prevent them from ruining their lives by seeing Lindsay Lohan's "I Know Who Killed Me." It's appalling... just incredibly awful.

Im sorry, i didnt mean to sound ethnocentric (is that when you think one country's better than the rest?)...its just that most movies that are released here in Australia are from America, although i have seen many awesome films not made by America and quite a few shockingly bad ones from Australia (eg A Man's Gotta Do, Crackerjack)....

anyway, im not sure where that quote is from...sorry

Yeah, ethnocentrism is when you think your own "group" is superior.

But if it makes you feel any better, of most of the non-American films I've seen (and I've been to quite a few film fests where they show non-"mainstream" movies so I like to think I've seen quite a few for someone from North America) the best ones in a country-by-country manner are usually Australian (in my opinion). :eusa_danc

Wasn't that Empire Strikes Back? Yoda training Luke?

If it's right then my quote would be, "This is Calcutta, Bohiemia is dead"

I think Triplumes is some form of Alice in Wonderland (either the live version one with Whoopi Goldberg, or the Disney one)

Mine's
"There's no earthly way of knowing / Which direction we are going / There's no knowing where we're rowing / Or which way the river's flowing / Is it raining? / Is it snowing? / Is a hurricane a-blowing? / Not a speck of light is showing / So the danger must be growing / Are the fires of hell a-glowing? / Is the grisly reaper mowing? / Yes, the danger must be growing / 'Cause the rowers keep on rowing / And they're certainly not showing / Any signs that they are slowing. "
