Here's the situation: You're a train driver and you see up ahead four young boys playing on the railroad tracks. If you try to brake, it won't do any good, you will still hit and kill them. There is another option, however. You could switch tracks and avoid hitting the group of children, but on the other track there is an elderly railroad worker, cleaning. If you were to change tracks, you would surely kill him instead.
