Hi, new guy here!

Hey,
I'm Alec. This is my first post. I've been reading a lot on this website, and I already feel better about my sexuality, knowing that there are a lot of people here going through much of what I am. I still haven't come out to anyone yet, but one of these days... weeks... months?... YEARS??? Oh well, the right time will come. I'm going into high school soon. That's gonna be fun! "cough cough" I really am not worried aobut coming out to my friends, and not really my parents either. (Most of them probably already are suspecting I'm gay) The thing that worries me is coming out to my relatives... yikes! I really doin't know what they would think about having a gay relative. Who knows, maybe they would stop talking to my family. I really don't know, just thinking...


Oh well, ... I'm glad to be somewhere where so many people will support me throughout all of this! Thanks everyone, and nice to meet you! (!)

Well, when you decide to come out to your parents you can always talk to them about coming out to other relatives ((after you've given them a chance to recover from the news of course lol))

Alec.....I think it is very common to worry about these things but alot of the time, it doesn't happen and you are just putting yourself through unnecessary stress. I'm speaking from experience here! :-) I was so worried that my Dad (who has been know to be quite a bigot in the past) would not take my sons homosexuality well has actually done very well. He still has some trouble but we're working through it and he has never turned his back on my son or said anything nasty to him. He just told him he loves him anyway! Then I worried about my husbands' family who are fundamentalist Christians. No problems there either. So try not to dwell on things that you think could or could not happen. Just face it IF it happens. We're all here for you!

Yeah, high school should be fun!!Only if you are...well, I think you'll get it once you started to go high school. I don't know if most of your friends are suspecting you're gay is good but sure I guess it'll make coming out to them easier!!

Hello Alec,

Welcome to EC. After reading your note I must say that you have a very good attitude about everything. It is true, the best thing is to take it one step at a time. There is no rush as to how fast you should tell others your feelings. It is not a race. From my own experience I have been dealing with the issue of being gay myself for twenty-three years now and the biggest thing I had to do was to come out to myself first. After this I felt comfortable discussing it with a few close friends. I still am very uncertain about talking to my parents.

On the other side of the story I am very glad to hear that you are looking forward to starting school. I am too for I am a high school mathematics teacher. Best of luck during the 2007-2008 school year and welcome to EC.
