Record number of new members today!

Working on UK time we have 17, yes seventeen, new members so far today, and there is still just over two hours to go.

I don't remember us ever having that many new members in a single day before. A few months ago we would be pleased to have that many new members in a week!

Well *** has been shut for maintenance for much of today, and they now have an age warning message directing underage people here (see attached). I wonder if that's why loads of people are finding EC?

I've just bumped the How did you find EC thread (http://emptyclosets.com/forum/showthread.php?p=48415#post48415), to find out how some of our more recent members found out about this site.

EDIT - 19 now - welcome moody woman and ShyChick! I'm sure we're going to exceed 20 before the day is done. :)

i just checked the guests and instead of being robots for the majority they are real guests! like 300 of them! what happened? did we get more advertizing? this is crazy cool! i gave the site to a few girls at the mental hospital but that was less than 4 and none of them have joined yet (i check every new member and if its a girl under 18 then i send a message of welcome to make sure. the girls i gave the url to know i'm angelonfire) wow. just wow. :eek: :jawdrop: :wow: :smilewave

Considering that only three out of those 37 new members are women, we can conclude that the 10 times higher than usual number of new members is due to the inclusion of the link on ***.

We are at the moment 100 times smaller than *** (EC: 1,309 members, ***: 130,661 members)...

If it is due to the message at ***, which seems most likely, I think we'll have a flood of new members for the next few days as underage and curious *** regulars see the message, then it will reduce somewhat as it will just be people who are newly visiting *** that see it.

I make it 63 new members since Sunday morning UK time. From the dates of birth, many are in the 14-17 age range, though quite a few are over 18. You are of course all very welcome at EC! Thanks for joining.

Some more good news... Even with all these new people on the forum there doesn't seem to be any trouble. We have had no bad posts reported and I've had no PMs about any problems. So it looks like our new members are all decent guys (and girls)! Excellent! :)
