ohhh
my world has been really rather turned upside down lately
my little brother came out about a year ago and I am trying to help him find an online community that he can participate in
and if i meet a few new friends as well that would be great too

EDIT: my mom is from north-western greece. (I dont really want to get more specific)

Andreus
21st Aug 2007, 07:40 PM
well they will love ya anyway

I'm from Uruguay, lol.
I remember you clearly, Andreus. I didn't know you were Greek though.
paul7836
21st Aug 2007, 07:47 PM
yah. If i came out, my parents would probably do something dramatic. And make it bigger than it is. Im mainly afraid of what my dad will do. My mom will just tell me to hush up like she already has...

my dad didnt handle it well
but i could have gone about it a bit more tactfully
its the kind of thing you remember all your life so you have to take your time and do what feels right WHEN it feels right
im sure it will all work out

Its just really dark in this closet. Where were your Persian relatives from originally?
Andreus
21st Aug 2007, 07:57 PM
well they lived in a small town just north of tikrit for about a thousand years... or so the family stories go... i can vouch for the location, not the length of time there.
before that i am not quite sure
paul7836
21st Aug 2007, 08:00 PM
hmm. Why i asked is beacuse i have some relatives that are also persian refugees. I thought it would be increasingly odd odd to meet them on this forum.
Andreus
21st Aug 2007, 08:01 PM
where are they from? what area? and where did they wind up?
paul7836
21st Aug 2007, 08:05 PM
they are from Armenia. the two parents met in Greece i think. And moved to Ontario, Canada. I dont really know anything else...
Andreus
21st Aug 2007, 08:08 PM
we are all scattered to the four corners thats for sure
old world families are very traditional
your closet isnt as dark as all that
its just a little deeper than most and it will take some time to navigate
paul7836
21st Aug 2007, 08:11 PM
Well... im partially out. And im not alone. So i guess that helps. I still don't know how to say im gay in Greek... and well asking anyone i know would definetly get me dirty looks.
Andreus
21st Aug 2007, 08:17 PM
the greek word for gay is floros
there are lots of words for it actually but that is the nicest one... lol
but you may want to use a language that you are comfy with if you are going to talk to your dad
let him come to you
it will make him more comfortable when you decide to do it
paul7836

paul7836
21st Aug 2007, 08:25 PM

Andreus
21st Aug 2007, 08:29 PM

he came out and my family decided he needed to be around me and live with me
i wish i had had an older gay brother to help me out with the whole thing when i came out, but im not sure Mitri is always as greatfull that
i am sure im alot more protective of him than he likes but....

Hi Andreus! You know who I am. I stopped by here this evening myself to see a place that perhaps would enable me to assist others who have so many resources you and I didn't have when we really needed them.

I wish i had a gay anyone to help me through it. Your brother is more grateful than you know. In greece, their seems to be a lot more freedom for kids...(I got back from a 5 week trip there a few days ago) so hold on to him. What really opened my eyes was when my friend from next door was talking about sex as if everyone had it at 14 or something. (mabie thats usual?)
*remembers the time he had with Yourgos*

well he loves me and i love him... im not happy when he goes out on dates but thats just me putting my stuff on him... if you know what i mean...i just want him to go slow and he wants to go fast
and i went fast when i first came out too
i guess thats why i want him to slow down... i wish i had taken more time to deal with the emotional stuff before i jumped into the romance part
we all find our own way i guess

paul7836
21st Aug 2007, 08:48 PM
well... its instinct to jump into dating after getting out, especially when you are in your teens. i probably will, if my dad doesn't lock me in my room or something else dramatic.

but you will always be his son
