Ok so I really had no idea where to put this, but I really wanted to start a thread like this.

I just want to thank the parents of gay kids that have come to this site and given there advice to us. Your advice is invaluable and from a perspective few of us have. There is no way for me to mesure the amount of respect I have for you.:eusa_clap

I want everyone who feels the same as me too post here and show the parents how much we apreciate them.

Thanks guys,
I am not the only parent here but there are not many of us and as I am new here I felt a bit out of place, I wasn't sure if it was my place to join in but when I saw how much suffering you go through to come out I just wanted to give another slant on things.

Your stories have also helped me come to terms with my son's coming out, you are all so kind and supportive of each other that it lifts me up when I am having a bad day.

You are just normal guys trying to come to terms as best you can with something socially unacceptable which is a major influence on your lives, I admire you all greatly.

As I said to someone who sent me a PM to thank me for my support and advise we are parents not monsters, it is heartbreaking to see how much angst and worry the 'telling to parents' creates for you, it seems to take over your lives, it breaks my heart to read some of these stories.

So anyway, hang on in there, I love you guys, you are all so sensitive and caring it is a priviledge to know you. (&&&)

I feel touched coming here everyday and seeing such caring individuals helping eachother out with support and advice. I get as much from this as you guys, I'm sure. I'm happy Louise is here to help me out with views from the parent perspective. She is great!

Though not personally a parent (though it was attempted many times, it was just not to be) I feel I might have a bit to offer from my own perspective. I feel many times that being a mentor is as helpful and it is considered a privilege to offer what little I can to the future generations. You all are a great bunch of people and I am happy to have you all in my life.

To all the parents here, thank you for your support, advice and showing you really care.

I appreciate the viewpoints of the 'straight' parents as well!

Like Jayhew, I think I bring a unique perspective to the forum because I'm a gay parent - although my daughters are still quite young. With age comes wisdom, and I enjoy being able to share my lessons learned over the years.

True, it is amazing to see a different perspective on coming out, not just the person who is coming out but to the people who have had to deal with that fact regarding somebody they know.
