I first told my best friend when I was 15 (back in April) but I am still coming out to people, very slowly, considering my parents are holding me back. But the real question, is who knew they were gay before reaching the age of 10?

I thought that I was bi when I was 8. I realized that I was gay when I was 10.

I just came out last year, at the age of 36. It's been amazing!! I knew there was that weight on my shoulders, but didn't realize just how heavy it was until it lifted. And it all happened in one night. It was totally a spiritual thing. I feel like I've just been born!!! I tell people I'm 37 going on 23; I even get carded ALL the time now! 40 lb. lighter, in shape, making tons of new friends. I got a "reset button" in life, yay!!!!!

August 3, 2008 (I know all my dates which the OCD in me likes) making me 14, but I don't think I'll be done and totally open until 21, that's the goal at least...

I remember talking to my parents at 13, about two friends and myself being gay. They told everyone in the imediate family the next day. Some were supportive others did not understand, and still do not.

I told most of my friends when I was 15, and came out to everyone else just in the past few days. Like, i'm pretty open in public with my girlfriend, and if someone asks I just tell them. I still haven't told anyone in my family, but I know my aunt and uncle will take it well (hope so anyway). So I might tell them when I visit them in Liverpool soon. :)

A couple of friends when I was 14 or 15, then scattered over the next few years, ending with my parents when I was 17. There are still a couple of people who don't know (extended family) but I consider myself mostly out.

I was 18. =) Came out about 2 weeks after joining this forum, and never looked back.
Takes a lot of weight off your shoulders and now I no longer have to think about what I say or do. Wooooo!
I would recommend to anyone though to do it when you're older and finished high school - university seems a lot more accepting and mature than a bunch of school kids.

20. I was fortunate enough to figure it out while I was in college. It was very difficult at the time, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. Now I just assume that everyone knows I'm gay. Co-workers or friends, it doesn't matter. I don't advertise it, but if they ask about my personal life, I don't lie about it either. I'm proud to be gay. I'm proud to be honest with myself about who I am, and who I love. Life is so much better when I can be honest with the woman in my mirror.

I started coming out when I was 12 to a few close friends, but I was out to my school and my mom when I was 13. I don't really want to come out to my whole family since they would prob. disown me.

I think I'd "figured it out" by the time I was ten. Although at that age, you don't even have a clue what the word "gay" means but I knew. I didn't fully come out to myself until my mid thirties but when I finally did, it was so great.

I haven't come out yet, but plan to soon.
I'm 17, and won't be 18 for quite some time; so I'd say it's safe to say I'll be 17 when I come out. :)

when i was in my mid 40s, to my wife, so difficult, i wa shaving professional help at the time which really helped my. I had been having sexual difficulities with my wife. so i went to see someone, it was really great to help me understand myself. years later, at about age 50 i told a man who was a close friend.

Just a couple months ago. I actually wasn't planning on doing it that night, (I was still toying around with the idea of telling anyone), but I was drinking with my friends, and I was talking with a couple of straight girls and one gay guy and we were talking about boys and such (I don't really remember) but then Jeff says to me, maybe you like girls. And I said "yes, well, maybe..." Jeff and I bonded and he was said he was really proud of me (which made me feel sooo great). Funny thing, the two girls that were right next to us didn't hear/notice any of this going on.
As of now the only people that officially know are Jeff, his bf Shawn and myself. I'm sure others suspect.
I was telling my mom about my friend (gay) Bryan and how I think he's the coolest, and she's like maybe you're a lesbian?? And I was like haha no, if I was a lesbian, I would hang out with gay girls, not gay guys.
To answer the question 19. I don't really want to come out to anyone else anytime soon tho.

I still haven't come out to any IRL friends, but...
12: Start accepting the fact I might be gay
14: Finally come out to myself
14 (later): Come out to some online friends
I plan on coming out to my mom this fall, so if you'll look to your left
<------
You'll see I'll be 15 when that happens.

Woah I'm so suprised at how many of you had it all sorted so young! While I was 15 and 16 I just didn't know what was going on, then not long after turning 17 I thought I must be bi... but nah, gay. So 17 :eusa_danc I'm eighteen in a month.
