He has problems and sickens me so much. What angers me the most is that he adds to the gay stereotype.

Bad interpretation?
If you actually get the point he is trying to make you will know that he doesnt literally mean that.
WE all know those girls who hit on openly gay males and its pointless to do that which is what he is saying.

He's gay, not a girl.
I don't like him. He is just annoying. What is up with all of these "internet celebrities"? They're way too pathetic to be real celebrities, yet they still get all of this attention.
Oh well. Let people watch this... thing, cry or whine or bitch, whatever it does, in it's bed fort.

Nobody needs to say it, but the douche looks like a freaking girl. I look at him and wonder "what the hell is that?" It seriously has me puzzled, but then I hear that he's a gay guy and it just baffles me to wonder why he acts the way he does and chooses to look the way that he does.
It's like, he doesn't want people to judge him, yet he spends hours on his make-up and hair. It just doesn't make any sense.

Yeah, I hear the things that he's trying to point out, but basically, in my opinion, what the guy is doing is preaching something yet totally feeding into a stereotype. I would rather listen to him if I could relate to him and not just look at the guy as a walking-talking-I-live-in-a-bed-fort-stereotype.
On a "positive" side I would rather listen to him than Gay God or that "Ask a Gay Man" dude. Don't get me started on them...

OMG i hate Chris Crocker!!!! I hate the gay stereotype!!! Being gay does not define who you are as a person... its just one of the many thousands of things that make you who you are. And the gay community is so diverse and different, so why are only the stereotypical ones portrayed through the media??
He is seriously mentally ill. And hes got the most annoying voice!!!!

uhm..who said he was a girl?
Actually, he did. He keeps calling himself a girl.
As it is, the first one made me cringe, because I doubt she feels the same about him. After all, I don't quite see how anyone can really feel sorry for Britney. All her problems are of her own making, all of her fame and money came from other people - her makeup team, her songwriters, her publicist, her record label... Those people define her opinions, how she looks, and what she sounds like. She gets a lot of money to stand around while all these other people do stuff.
That's one of the main reasons I like rock music - pop is often just so shallow.
All of Crocker's videos since the Britney one are all to make money. He saw that he was dividing opinion globally, he knew he'd hit some level of fame, and figured that if he just got weirder (Jimmy Kimmel), bitchier (FOX video), more controversial (Who Cares About 9/11?), and more effeminate (all of them), he'd be more famous, and therefore there's a lot more money.

I obviously support his right to be who he is of course, what I fear is people thinking he represents gays or whatever. As the rest of us his sexuality is a part of him, but not the same as his personality, which in his case is inzane.. forgot my point, but yeah.. we're all different individuals and have some things in common, but most things not, thank god (not matthew lush).

I think Levi has a great point, yes he is saying be yourself, and that's a good thing, but he is playing the stereotype up waaaay too much, and if he carries on then he may be seen as the "voice of the gay people" or something and seem to represent us.

If ANYONE starts thinking Chris Crocker is the "voice of gay people," then they are frankly too stupid to live. You cannot EVER stop the stupid people from believing stupid things, so worrying about what they may or may not believe is pointless.
Truly I think if all the people who are so concerned about people getting the wrong idea because of people believing gay stereotypes just redirected all that energy they spend being concerned into being themselves (and maybe coming out to a few more people), gay stereotypes would be permanently deceased. You cannot stop other people from acting stereotypically (or insanely to garner attention, which is the impression I get from CC) and you can't control whether other people take that behaviour seriously or not--all you can influence is how people see YOU (and even that is not something you have full control over).
So please--expend your energy wisely; don't waste it fretting about people like CC. There will ALWAYS be people like him. The people you want to be concerned about is people who are anti-gay and make bad laws or enforce them, not CC.

^ That's true but it would still be cool to see more "ordinary" gay people in the media, to keep it balanced. Most gay celebrties aren't out and then you only hear about drag queens or Chris Crocker. I don't really mind him too much though (yet).

It's unavoidable. Plus the media loves sensationalism and "ordinary" people are not sensational.

From someone who is still in the closet, i fear that my friends will classify me as a steriotypical gay man if i came out, flamboyant and all the rest.. even though im not that at all.. CC doesnt help there.

From someone who is still in the closet, i fear that my friends will classify me as a steriotypical gay man if i came out, flamboyant and all the rest.. even though im not that at all.. CC doesnt help there.Okay, but if it wasn't CC, then it would be William Sledd, and if it wasn't him, it would be someone else. There is no escaping the people who believe stereotypes, just as there is no escaping people who are willing to exploit them. All you can do is be yourself and, if someone is particularly dense, point out that you're "not like that." The problem is not the individuals who (seem to) confirm stereotypes--the problem is the way stereotyping works and that people are prone to it generally. The only way to win is not to play the game. But you can't stop the people who want to play from playing.
When I suggested that some of the non-stereotypical gay people come out to more people, I was thinking of the ones who are out generally already but because they're non-stereotypical, maybe they don't get registered as gay. Of course, these are usually exactly the people who won't come out more actively because they fear being labelled as "gay" where "gay" equals CC and his ilk. So you can see how the whole problem exacerbates itself.
There are ALWAYS going to be people who inadvertently or deliberately misinterpret who we are, whether based on our sexual orientation, the colour of our skin, the way we walk and talk, what gender we are, etc. We just have to learn to deal with it; I've found the best way for me is to focus less on the people who don't understand or bother to try to understand me and focus on the ones who do.

Still, it's so one-sided in the media that it sucks that other than the drag queens coverage in gay parades, we have "celebrities" (or Youtube people that mention Britney Spears) like Chris Crocker that don't show anything different.
It doesn't have much to do with Chris. Except I didn't like it when the audience laughed at the unfunniest gay references (on Jimmy Kimmel) just because they were gay and Chris' response was playing with his bra instead of striking back with something funny against straight people or whatever. He's supposed to be a comdian, right?
It's not just the media's fault, if more people came out it would've been better. Especially more confident people that could do something better than pretending they have boobs in gay situations and dragging the same old stereotypes all over the place.

Physically he is not a girl which he states in many different videos.
Emotionally he is.
The thing that makes this so hard to explain is that the fact we as a society have perceived women and men to be very different.
The world as a whole has always thought about a male being into football, watching porn, eating sloppy, messy, and not having to worry about anything but their special someone one.
Women on the other hand are quite the opposite.
They are neat, and do things in an orderly fashion, and try to keep as clean as possible.
Why cant a male be like that of a female?
Who says only females wear skirts?
Why can females wear jeans if males are unable to wear blouses, skirts, spaghetti(sp?) straps and anything otherwise defined as "women clothing."
People have come up with names like "Tomboy" and Tomgirl" to put a label on people who act the opposite sex...why?
THey are just a person being who they feel they should be, what their mind tells them to, and expressing themselves as every human being should have the right ton do.

Love him or hate him, he is definitely media savvy. I applaud him on that. I wouldn't think that the gay community is compromised in any way. For the Chris Crockers of the world there is more than the gay agenda to push. We don't believe that Carlos Mencia is the lone representative for the entire Latin/Hispanic community do we? They are both entertainers.
If we want to look for someone to represent the community, we need to look past the entertainers, unless like Harvey Fierstein they are delivering a poignant speech. Instead, we should look for people like Representative Barney Frank (D-MA) that pushed for the passage of ENDA on the House floor.
