View Full Version : Forgot to untick the Post Anonymously box?

Plenty of people seem to make that mistake. If you use the Preview Post button it becomes ticked again, so it is an easy mistake to make.

OK, so you posted anonymously but intended to post as you.

Firstly consider whether it really matters. Is it important that people know it was you that made the post? If not then just leave it.

Normally when I see someone posting "^ That was me" I think "So what".

If you really do need your message to appear as you and not as anonymous it would be easier for us (the mods) if you just post exactly the same thing again in your own name. So there would be two identical posts, the anonymous one then your one. Then all we have to do is delete the duplicate anonymous post to tidy up the thread.

With "^ That was me" messages we cannot tidy it up easily so we don't bother. But this means the thread remains more messy than it needs to be. So please don't do that, instead do as I suggested above.

But again, first consider whether it really matters. Most of the time it doesn't.

I still don't understand what the big deal is.

What looks untidy is bad grammar, spelling and double+ posting for no reason.

Well some people think it is a big deal to inform everyone that the anon post above was theirs. Personally I don't really care.

If people do follow my suggestion we could tidy up the threads as we see them and also get rid of your posting error. Or if people continue to do "That was me" we will continue with threads that are longer and messier than they need to be. Whatever...

Ugh... I just thought of that as I clicked "Submit Reply" and I was like "Nooooooo.....". But you're right, it doesn't really matter most of the time. And now I'm practicing with this thread :P
