Everyone remembers (or at least should) the first album/record they got.
Mine was Bat Out Of Hell 2 by Meatloaf and I think I still have it somewhere.
What was yours?

I bought Give Up - The Postal Service online. I still haven't bought an actual physical CD with my own money yet (I've received some before).
Although I really want to buy:
Speak for Yourself - Imogen Heap
and
Black Holes and Revelations - Muse
And I have $65 in Best Buy gift cards in my wallet!

As mentioned on some other thread the first record I bought was Little Richard-Tutti Frutti
It was a 78rpm and on the way home I fell on my bicycle broke the record and had to go back and buy another.
As another point of interest in that same year Little Richard recorded "The Girl Can't Help It" which Fergie uses as a line in her latest CD.
And it was also the title of a movie titled "The Girl Can't Help It" with Jayne Mansfield.Who was sort of a Trailer Park Trash type challenging Marlyn Monroe as Top Blonde.

I don't remember if I received a tape cassette or record beforehand but the first CD I ever got was one of Vivaldi's Four Seasons. Honestly. It was a gift from my grandmother. Still have it. I don't remember the first CD I bought myself, though.

*Pulls up 8 day old thread*
Err, I think my parents first bought me Elephant by The Black Eyed Peas for Christmas like 5 years ago. :p The first one I actually bought for myself was probably The Chrysalis Years by The Ramones. Which is probably a compilation of albums.

My first CD was Ministry - The Land of Rape and Honey. On the back of the jewelcase, it had instructions on how to care for this "new technology" called compact disks :P
My first cassette...now THAT'S a tough one. Mostly I listened to a lot of my mother's (metal) and sister's (rock and industrial) music, but as for the first cassette I actually purchased or was given? I'm thinking maybe the Police - Synchronicity? That's just a wild guess, really.

the first album i can remember getting as a present was Step One by Steps, or B*Witched's self titled album, when i was about 6, both albums are still in my collection and still get played on a regular basis lol.
The first album i can remember buying myself was either Busted's first self titled album or No Doubt The Singles 1992-2003, thinking back, it will have been Busted. I Still love Busted, i pretend not to, but i do lol.

Erm..I think it was either "Waking The Fallen" by Avenged Sevenfold or "A Deathgrip on Yesterday" by Atreyu.
All the other CDs I had before had been given to me. I didn't buy them with my own money.
First vinyl I ever bought was "Colour by Numbers" by Culture Club.

Rock Around The Clock- Bill Halley (I hate to think how long ago that was)
My first album that I ever purchased was some Bill Haley and the Comets compilation cassette when I was 11.. Long before my time of course but it was a style of music I enjoyed because my parents had a lot of rock and roll records and cassettes laying around. I'm sure I still have the cassette somewhere. It's probably in a box somewhere in storage.
