Okay, to clarify, it's technically a song, but it was a poem first.

The following are the lyrics to my favorite song right now, but the tricky part is, I'm really at a loss for what it's about. This artist essentially puts his poetry into music (doesn't always sound very catchy, but the writing's typically superb), and tends to lean heavily on metaphors. About the only clue I have to the poem/song's meaning is that the theme of the album that this song is featured on is heavily tied to the artist's relationships with various people falling out.

So, anybody wanna take a crack at it? I'd love any kind of input you guys have, even a vague clue! "I don't know either" comments are comforting, but not quite as helpful! Hehe!

The poem's title is "Dal"

find
words fade above the snow
the carved out something stitch
the carver's all who wave surrender
through all tempers looking back
skin begins to crack
those ever double jointed lathers

fine
closed off no power the will inside no peace
no feeling all disease around security

eyes
devised the cycles find
a call that's never caught
beneath the locusts dimmed decision
find
the vice grips never freed
a crease upon one's debt
and never paying forward
hate
what will we wont be late
what will be left today
when nothing left to beg the moral
fate
what is it left you say
who will be left to play
when ugly crippled lies remain

fine
closed off devours the meat inside of me
in freeing all afraid of life eternity
eyes
burning of sorrow deep inside no teeth
holding on to the things left to be believed

fear
what will we want with fear
the time is coming near
with nothings left to have or hope for
pain
what is there left to say
an ancient plan to pay
with blood and s--- tomorrow
shame
we will be learning shame
until we play the game
that in the end will bring disorder
race
what will be left to say
when nothing is the same
and all this s--- goes under

slipping out the final mask
kiss the mercantile abscess
rusts behind teach fertile blood
the fingernails are dirty

face the coming nation loss
and go towards the final cost
crippled deaths of lost put all
the soul unconvincing

fine
closed off devours the meat inside of me
in freeing all afraid of life eternity

Well, to be honest, I didn't expect anybody to actually post in this thread. I've seriously been scouring the net for someone - anyone - who has even the slightest clue about this poem, fan of the band or not.

While I was originally prepared to surrender and declare that the song's meaning is identical to the album's theme (a pretty blatant cop out), I'm getting the idea now that it revolves more around the future. Fear of a dark future, a desire for a dark future...something along those lines. Either way, I'm thinking it's based around concern about some inevitable and undesirable tomorrow, but there's still something I'm missing.

Last call! Anybody have a clue? ^^`

It's actually DaL. Really no idea what, if anything, the title means, heh!
