I am only using this Anon post b/c this topic is posted often, but i cannot find the threads right now that relate to it.
alright, so at lunch i sit near a Bible nazi who is not homophobic, but is completely against homosexuality. our argument was very intense today and i used almost every argument a gay person could make (or at least all i could have thought of). My main points were:

-"try this the other way around. you try to be gay and see how hard of a choice it is."
-"I was born this way, and God made me this way."
-"you would think i would choose to be discriminated against just to be gay?"
just to name a few. but his main points were:
-"you only choose to be gay because you want to be different."
-"you're gay because you could not get a girlfriend."
-"The Bible says homosexuality is a sin."
just to name a few of his. We are to argue again tomorrow, and i would like some new arguments that i can use to defend my sexuality.

Separation of church and state. Not regarding the dozens of other ridiculous things the Bible says are sins (there are websites deidcated to it), you cannot base your political beliefs off of your religious beliefs. It's fine for him not to agree with homosexuality, but the Bible cannot be used to justify any political decisions-this is not a theocracy.

And yes, every single gay person just LOVES being different-thats why LGBTQ people kill themselves everyday over their sexuality and inability to conform to society's norm.

And yes, again, everyone who is gay just cant seem to attract a member of the opposite sex. We're all ugly and don't seem to attract them at all, so instead we turn and try to attract an even SMALLER group of people because its so much easier to find a gay person in a closeted high school to date.

I can almost guarantee you will get nowhere with him (I know, I used to be just like him when I was using religion as my defense in my denying that I was gay phase). Arguing everyday is not going to get you anywhere-eventually you'll have to accept that there are some dumbass people in this world and hopefully they'll come to their own epiphany.

Why bother? Sit with people you like at lunch time and leave people like this to stagnate in their ignorance.

goldwin's law http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godwin%27s_Law
Anyway I think you should just avoid the person, people like that don't change their minds. Or you could try attacking the bible to ruin its credibility.

Why bring up certain points of the Bible if we're not willing to bring up ALL of them? :icon_wink

Uh, have you ever seen this? Click here (http://img168.imageshack.us/img168/2199/640875cb6.gif) (image moves, wait a few seconds for each new image). It lists some interesting passages of the Bible. If you note them down and ask him to look them up in the Bible he'll find that homosexuality is not the only thing that is considered an abomination by the Bible. I looked them up, it's fairly hilarious how people quote the passage forbidding homosexuality but are blissfully ignorant to everything else the Bible preaches. The argument is ridiculous anyway, who cares about his opinion?
