View Full Version : So... what does your nick mean?
goratrix

Ok... some of you have nicks such as Dave, Mark, Paul, etc and those are obviously your names. But then... there are some of us that have nicks that are not our names...
I was just wandering what they meant?
Mine is because of a character I really liked from the Clanbook Tremere. I could probably tell you his story, but that won't really help. It sufices to say that he was a mage, and he became a vampire. And he was one of the first vampires to use the magic of the blood. Now... of course it's fiction, it was writen by White Wolf Game Studio. And well.. they wrote Vampire: The masquerade... one of my favorites RPGs. And Goratrix plays a great part in the comming of Gehenna (end of the world) That's why I chose that name as a screen name. I usually use another name, one of my own making... but I fear if i use it here people will come across my posts on this forums if they ever google for it.(as i have done many times with their nicks and real names)
Now it's your turn!

tinkergeek -- I love to tinker and play around with radios and computers, which makes me a geek. About two to three years ago, I was trying to come up with a domain name, and those two words just sort of came together.

TriBi
8th Apr 2005, 04:18 PM
TriBi is for two things...
Tri - for Triathlon (used to be into the sport in a big way - no longer have time, but still run, swim and get out on the MTB now and then)
Bi - my sexuality.

Hey... I have a friend that used to say that he was trisexual... and whenever anyone asked what that mean he would answer that he was willing to try everything at least once. Although I'm almost sure he already tried gay sex... And he is not my type. Anyway... I love him very much as a friend... and i'm coming out to him in about two weeks (he is with a lot of stuff the next week, and I can't take his mind off them)

Hehe...my [straight] brother always jokes and tells people that he's a bisexual... if he wants sex he has to buy it, LOL.
My name is, of course, Matt. Nothing special there.

As an older member, I made a conscious decision to use my real name (and it was still available!). Unfortunately, I may have to change it to stop you all getting confused with 'Dave' (before me in this thread) when I end my messages with the name Dave!

Miaplacidus
6th Jul 2007, 03:12 AM
well...
Miaplacidus, from the Arabic miyah meaning waters + Latin placidus meaning placid. Therefore, placid waters.
Miaplacidus is also a second magnitude star in the southern constellation of Carina (Beta Carinae), and one of the brightest in the night sky. I actually took the name from the star.

I have had this "screen name" for so long, I can't remember how I came up with it. I am a creature of habit and not very creative, so I guess I just stick with what works.
Hydrogen

Hydrogen ... nothing special, was trying to think of a username, looked over at the table across the room, and there was a bottle of hydrogen peroxide. Thus, Hydrogen was born.

Awesome spelled backwards. I didn't want to use my regular name (my AIM name, etc.) because I wasn't fully out when I registered. I jokingly refer to myself sometimes (and register for junk websites, etc.) as Mr. or Senor Awesome. I also made a small cartoon about him, haha. I just like the word.
Steam Giant
6th Jul 2007, 01:19 PM
Steam Giant is an old persona I used to dawn when I had to be strong around people I was afraid of. I would picture myself as a monolithic, mechanical juggernaut, invulnerable to harm. It didn't work all of the time, but it helped ^^

xequar
6th Jul 2007, 02:35 PM
Xequar was the name I came up for the legendary hero in a short story I wrote in junior high. It's the sn I use almost all around the internet, so when I was registering here, I hesitated to use it, but then I decided that I didn't terribly care at that point, so here I am, Xequar the legendary hero.

That is SO COOL. I never noticed that and have been trying to figure out what your username means since...ever.
Okay uh. Tinkerbell is a common screenname for me, and on other fourms I add a set of four numbers. The nickname was one given to me by my cousin and it makes for a good screenname and nickname.
SpikySpice
6th Jul 2007, 04:28 PM
SpikySpice, I didnt even know how did I come up with my name, it was one day I saw soem one name Spiky, who loos cool and hot, so I came up with Spiky,
And it was like a reaction chain, EC was the first gay forum i signed my name as Spiky, after that day, kids at my school started to call me Spiky, cua they liked my hair, they touched my head all the times
And for the Spice part, I just wanted to make it rhythm, and it turned out really funny when I said SpikySpice, and Spice is spicy as you see my avtar has a red purplr face like he's eating chili or sumthing
crimsonarcher
6th Jul 2007, 04:39 PM

watchtower

I'm not comfortable using my real name...maybe later. I kept coming up with good names-that were already taken. I was listening to a radio station that was playing Jimi Hendrix's cover of "All Along the Watchtower" (by Bob Dylan). It wasn't taken, so there it is.

I'm a girl. I like guitars. I was 13 when I first came out. the 50 was added because I didn't like guitargirl13 and it flowed =P
My actual nickname Jack is taken from my symbol, the Jack of Aces (a card I created in photoshop and looked kick-ass.) as well as a few other things.

I thought the same when I first saw it, but thankfully it isn't so that's fine.
Mine - well my name is Paul and I live in the UK. Not very imaginative, I know. I use this name on several forums, and my full name on others. All have the same avatar.

I was watching this documentary on Jimi Hendrix on vh1's Rock Docks: The Drug Years. For some reason I like to think of what I may name my kids in the future and like to collect cool sounding names for other weird reasons that I won't go into. I want the name to sound a little different or unique without sounding too "out there". When I heard the name I though it was cool. I like the name Hendrix though the name may be just a little on the "out there" side, but it's definately okay for a screenname. (!) (!!) (!)
Watchtower I just noticed you got your inspiration from Jimi Hendrix also.
Kimi
7th Jul 2007, 06:20 AM
It's my real name. Well it's not exactly, my name is Kimihiko(仁彦). It's Japanese name cuz I'm Japanese.
And the reason why I didn't use Kimihiko for my screen name is that usually the site tells you to not use your real name and most of my friends who is American couldn't pronounce Kimihiko properly. Usually, they sounds like Kemeheko and they told me it's too long so I usually go by Kimi. And some of my friend can't even pronounce Kimi properly so they call me like, Mickey, Kim, and K...One of my friend calls me Kenny:icon_wink
Kimi - It means like "human", "virtue" and "dear" in Japan:icon_wink
Sugar

Mine's a twist on my old MSN Gaming Zone nick, which was Redmage0099.. Shortened to Red87, which I use for almost everything now. I now pretty much exclusively use
red0099 now though.
RomanceSlayer
7th Jul 2007, 07:03 PM
my story is quite weird...
I was listening to one of my favourite songs...
and I like writing things while listening to music...
so I came up with a phrase...
" Heart beating, Violin playing, Siren singing, Romance Slaying "
I liked the last term so I´ve been using it for everything
And well it somehow describes me jejeje
I try not to fall in love with anybody so I find "RomanceSlayer" good to describe that
