View Full Version : My Mom might have cancer

Doctors have found a mass 8'' x 8'' x 8'' in my mom so big they can't see her uterus so she is going to have to have surgery where they will biopsy it to see if its cancer and if it is they have to see if it has spread and she'll probably have to have some type of radiation or chemo.
This scares me so badly. My mom means a lot to me and we are at a point where we are closer than we ever have been and I don't want to lose her. I'm trying to stay positive and be supportive of her and I know she doen't need me to be worrying over her.
I just ask everybody to keep her in your thoughts, or thoughts and prayers whatever you may believe.:tears:

That's terrible! My mom had cancer too, and all I could think of was "Please God let her live" for like two months. I hope it's not as bad as they're thinking :(

Thanks. she is going to have to have a hysterectomy no matter what but I'm hoping that the mass is benign and not cancer because she is the type of person who doesn't like to go to the doctor so she waits until she can't handle the pain or sickness anymore.
She has been going through a lot of pain for a while and refused to go to the doctor until now so hopefully it hasn't spread. In fact a couple of days ago I was on the phone with her begging her to go to the doctor and she finally got tired of me begging her so she agreed to make an appointment. I don't even want to think about what would have happened if she decided not to go to the doctor.

I hope everything turns out okay. There have been miraculous advances in cancer treatment in the last decade, so even if the diagnosis is cancer, it does not necessarily mean the worst. Hang in there!

I am thinking and praying for you and your mother too. My mother had cancer a while back (she has now recovered), and I know how horrible and horrific a time it can be. Don't forget to take care of yourself, or to find some friends who can do so for you. (*hug*)

Wow I've been at my parents house since Thursday night and I came back on here to find all of your replies. It means a lot to me to have your support. Yesterday she went back to the doctor for more tests and they told my mom that it is ovarian cancer and she is going to have surgery on Feb. 8th. I am hoping they can get it all during the surgery. I'm going to stay with my mom to help her while she is recovering and come back here for my classes so after the 7th I won't be on here very much for a couple of weeks. (my mom's computer sucks)
They said that after the surgery they will know if they got it all.
THANK YOU TO EVERYBODY WHO HAS REPLIED! JUST KNOWING THAT YOU CARE HAS MADE ME FEEL BETTER.

cancer...such a funny word, brings instant feelings of terror amoung people, all i can say is pray its not past stage 2 or 3, because by then, well its too late. although if its near her uterus, and hasnt spread yet would mean she would probably become sterile...which assuming she doesnt plan on having kids soon
reguardless, she will be in my prayers
