And no i'm not talking about my obese cat, Bitty. This is the crazy one i have named Tortie. Okay Tortie always eats weird things. like strings. once she walked into my room randomly and picked up this sting in her mouth and ate it and walked out. no playing at all. just eating. strange! but today i was sitting at the table working on this project and i hear this weird metalic crunching. at first i had no idea and then tried to identify the source. then to my horror i see Tortie downing a chain! a whole 2in. was still hanging out of her mouth. so i desperately called at her to stop and then tried to get near her, but being a fast and slick little cat she disappeared. only later did i see her crawl out from under my bed. weird!! i was just like baffled. i don't know what to do! this seems to me that now she must have stolen something, most likely jewelry and ate it. so thats more innatimate objects. and i've found ribbon in the litter box before too. strings from balloons, and also some colored christmas packing papers (from an incident of some cat shredding it) why is she eating this and does anyone know how to stop it? i know dogs eat stuff but thats sorta 'normal' for them. Tortie was a skittish stray who is now a collar wearing pushy indoor cat, and we also have TJ her kitten, which is the only one (as far as we know it was outdoors still) she had being only a year old herself at the time. she dropped him off at our house (we had been feeding her and her stray mate too at the time). so i know she has a weird past. she tries to bury her food too (so does her kitten) which i know to be instint of saving it. i just don't want her to get sick. dumb cat!:eusa_doh:

See a vet. That sounds dangerous to the cat. Besides, you don't want any valuable to be added to her list of appetizers -- not that material value is more important than your kitty's life. Anyway, see a vet. This kind of problem seems much too bizarre for anyone but a trained professional to advise you on.

I agree, this is one for your vet. It may be that there is something missing from her diet, or it may be a habit thing. The vet will be able to advise on whether a change of diet is needed or whether she should be referred to an animal behaviour specialist.

You need to get it sorted though, as she could become unwell or even die if she eats the wrong things. For example if she finds and eats a human pain-killer tablet such as asprin or paracetamol it will kill her.

But it seems she tend to go for metallic stuff. Beware she eats a battery or even a quarter o_o

Well I have searched for coins and earrings in kid feces, but a cat? Forget it. Yeah, she may be missing something from her diet.
