OK this is it, my mum and I have had that awkward conversation.
I explained to her I'd been thinking on it for 2 years. I also said I'd had a crush on a girl before. And that I have in fact kissed a guy and was thinking all the way through, "I'm really bored; when is this going to end?"
She said wait on it. She seriously thinks that at my next school, which is co-ed, it will all change and I'll completely forget about girls and be seriously into guys. She also said "Prepare to be proven wrong."
However, it wasn't all denial, she did say "It doesn't matter if you are or aren't, you're still the same person"..so that's good. At any rate, at least she hasn't done anything drastic. :D
Anyway I think we've come to a silent agreement not to talk about it for the rest of the holiday so hopefully things won't be awkward.
Anyway, it's kind of relieving having the burden of dreading that conversation off my shoulders.
