I'm so excited - I'm going to Montreal for basically the first time (I passed through there once on a bus) this weekend!! I've heard that Montreal is the most gay-accepting city in Canada, so me and my gf can hold hands and (hopefully) no one will mind. (*hug*) Any ideas for things to do in Montreal? We're already going to the biodome/botanical gardens and to Mont Royal. (!)
Yay Montreal! Well an obvious destination would be to visit the gay village (Ste-Catherine street East). There are great restaurantants/bars/clubs there. If you like, you could also walk along St-Laurent street, or in Old Montreal if you like the historical aspect. Parc Lafontaine is also nice. Hope you have a great time! No one will mind you holding hands!
I freaking LOVE Montreal. You should told me you were going. We could had an EC get together En masse! See..it's French. Basically just walk around downtown till you find the art gallery district. Also you gotta check out super sexe...strip club. It's famous. You gotta go. I'd go but I was to drunk to know what all those glowing lights were. God...To walk with your loved one down Montreal's downtown area would be ahhmazing.
Oh man, it was great!! We stayed in a really really amazing hostel in Old Montreal, called Le Sous-Bois (I highly recommend it!), and held hands the whole time we were there. It was weird coming back into Ottawa and not being able to hold hands or kiss or anything (partly too because we know people here we don't want to know that we are going out). But totally an amazing experience - we hiked Mount Royal, we visited the Gay Village (although only saw 2 lesbian couples in 2 hours - the rest were gay or straight couples. Maybe lesbians are more homebodies??), and it was great to feel more welcome there, we walked though Old Montreal, caroused about town with people from the hostel (who by the way were awesome and totally cool about the fact that me and my girlfriend are going out). And the concert was AMAZING!! OMGoodness! We were actually speechless! We neither of us could speak until like 15 minutes afterwards cuz it was so amazing! So, sorry for the raptures, but it was really great!
Montreal is a lovely place, i live there! Next time you come, check out Le Drugstore in the village. It's the Lesbian bar
