Hey everyone I just got a new IPOD nano for Christmas. And I was playing around with it before I went to go to work and for some reason it won't let me ut videos on my ipod. This particular video is the one of me strip dancing...I'm really just experimenting to see what I can put on there...but so far the file is AVI and if I go to Add file to library it won't let me...and if I try and import it says this: The file "[File name]" cannot be imported because it does not appear to be a vaid export file. Got any ideas how I can add my .Avi file to my ipod? Thanks :help: -Inarut
Yeah iPods are little devils when it comes to importing videos to play on them. I use the program Videora to convert movies I have, however Im not sure whether it will convert from .avi...Anyway, It works for me, and I think you just have to type Videora Download in Google and you'll be able to find it.
I think if you just search for a MP4 coverter you can change the file type and just load it on to your i pod thats what i do...
I use Free Studio Manager, it converts .avi movies to .mp4 and it's quite good, and it has the option of automatically downloading YouTube movies
.avi is actually not a video encoding format, it's a container that can contain all sorts of differently encoded video. If I recall correctly, iPods can't handle divx and xvid encoded stuff, and that's a very common format for encoded video. Basically, you could have an avi file that uses Quicktime encoding or divx encoding, so one avi file would play on your iPod and the other wouldn't. So yeah, you'll need to get yourself software that encodes your video in an iPod-compatible format or that transcodes your existing videos from whatever they're in to an iPod-compatible format. There's one for Macs called... hang on... grrr... just a sec, my memory's not working... Oh here this might help: http://forums.ilounge.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=123067 I was thinking of Handbrake and videohub, though, for the Mac.
I use Videora it automatically puts it on itunes and you can transfer to your ipod. And it tells you how to do it step by step
