Legal age to buy/view pornography.

I don't think there should be any legal restriction on age, for viewing pornographic materials. That is not to say that younger people should be looking at it, but it's more of a social/moral/developmental sort of thing than a legal thing.

 

I've been viewing internet pornography since I was 11 or 12 years old. Wow it's been a long time. :eek:

I've never in my life "bought" any pornography though, only old people would ever pay for porn. :lol:

18. I don't think there's a problem with the age just being set at 18. I personally wouldn't show is to anyone younger. It might be OK if the age was dropped to 16. Not really sure.

I didn't start viewing porn until a couple years ago, so I guess I can't really say much.

 

I have to go with sixteen. If you're old enough to do it yourself, you're definitely old enough to watch it...

 

I don't think it's a big deal if kids see pornographic material, but I'd insist upon a minimum age for buying it because it can lead to unrealistic expectations of sex. I'd like to trust parents to explain what porn is to curious kids without the government having to step in, but that's not likely to happen in most cases, so having an age limit of 18+ to get it legitimately is fine by me.

 

I understand why there is a legal age for viewing porn, although I definitely think 18 is overkill. I think at 16 most kids are mature enough to be able to watch porn. If parents have a problem with it, they can always monitor their children's activities. The laws are so useless though. I've been watching porn since I was 15 and never once had a problem because of my age, nor has anyone else I've ever talked to or heard of.

 

I think that there should be no age limit on pornography (it's only sex, after all), but that all violent, rape, pain-fetish or unwilling bondage (even though it's all for show) sorts of porn should be banned full stop.

 

I've been watching porn since I was 11. I've never found it too interesting until a year ago when I discovered a cooler porn.

In my opinion, there shouldn't be any laws for viewing porn.

I'm pretty much the same. I started viewing porn around the same age. My usage increased when I discovered those legal free porn video websites. :lol:

On topic, don't really think there should be an age.

 

I said 16 because I feel that by that age you are more mature and more sexually aware. I mean you can drive, and work in most places. Why shouldn't you be allowed to buy/view porn?

I looked at porn when I was 12. I think the legal age to buy porno should be 16. Although a lot of people go through puberty by the time they are 14 ish, 16 is when we can have a job and be responsible for money and by 16, about all of us have gone through puberty, so you wouldn't be like "eww...".

 

I voted for no age restrictions.

I have mixed feelings. On one hand, I never saw porn in any shape, form, or color until I was well past 18. (This seem hopelessly out of it, but I grew up before Internet porn.) I think there were pluses to limited porn access--namely forcing imagination and fantasy.

But being realistic age restrictions do nothing except maintain a facade. In my junior high there were boys who had porn. Today it's easier to get than ever before.

And I think instead of fighting porn, it might be a better use of time having honest, frank discussion of sex.

yeah, but if you grow up in the age of smart phones and constantly use the internet like myself, well i think i owe it to myself to use those free porn sites due to the ones before me having it so easy.
