My ring fingers are longer than my index fingers on both hands, except my dominant hand, which is my left, they are almost the same length, but the ring finger is still longer. Huge fag here...

What is the finger ratio thing anyway? Same length = you're gay?

I only heard of this a few weeks ago, but weirdly enough, it actually works for me...

All the finger length ratio means is that you had a lot of androgens (testosterone) in the womb. The more androgens you had the shorter your index finger.

My index fingers are pretty much equal length with my ring fingers. They look the same from the top, but once I turn my hand over there is a slight difference, but not much.

That said, if I measure from the base of the fingers rather than just comparing the tops, they are pretty much the same length.

Isn't it something to do with testosterone causing the ring finger to grow, so men not exposed to enough testosterone have short ring fingers and become gay, whereas women exposed to too much testosterone have long ring fingers and become gay? (Assuming one believes hormonal explanations of homosexuality.)

A person's digit ratio IS a good indicator of the prenatal hormone levels during the first couple trimesters of development. That has been backed up by studies. However, it is still unknown if the hormone levels are sufficient to explain homosexuality. Apparently the digit ratio correlation is stronger for lesbians than it is for gay men.

Here is a graph showing the approximate bell-curves from one of the studies:

Notice that even with both fingers the same length, a male is already an outlier. Personally I have a ratio of 1.03 which puts me in the very extreme side.

I also talked to my mom and she told me that her first trimester was very rough with vomiting almost every day. So that anecdotal evidence seems to support it, but there may be other factors as well.

I just measured mine with a ruler, both are literally the same length, you have to measure them, the ring looks longer at first, but the hand is not level

According to that theory, I'd be a heterosexual male, and that's inaccurate. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I think it's complete bullshit, tbh. Kids used to use it as a 'gay test' on the playground to make fun of people. And that's about as deep and meaningful application you're going to get from this silliness.

It's a confirmed trend, but not an absolute rule.

Apparently my right side would be lesbian while my left side would be a straight woman. So I'm a bisexual female. Interesting.

My index fingers are shorter than my ring fingers by 1 centimeter each. Guess I'll be marrying a woman :roflmao:.

Your fingers like fingers from left hands and right hands instead of just the same hand or the opposite one?
