Whoohoo! I'm off to spend Mom's weekend at Oregon State University with my baby girl! We're going to a comedy show! We're going to eat Mexican food. We're going to sleep in the same bed. (I'm not so sure she's excited about that since I snore.) We're going to do girly things. No men allowed. That's the best part. :roflmao:
I was about to make a lesbian joke then realized this is your *daughter* we're talking about... Have fun!!
I hope you both have a great time! I love it when my mum and I spend time just the two of us, together - you'll have such fun!
Cool. That's really close to me. But I hate the Beavers. I'll probably go to OSU though. I hear they have great science programs.
You hate the Beavers????? Oh my gosh!!!! Bad, bad, bad!!!!!!! Spank, spank!!!! Anyway..........I'm baaaaaaccccckkkkkk!!!!!! We had such a great time!!! I went with my daughters friend and roommates mother and we laughed all the way there and all the way back. We ate way too much, drank too many margaritas, and shared too many stories! We had a great time!
I've become a psuedo-Beaver fan over the past couple years, cheering for them when they come to Omaha for the CWS, and I've started thinking about going to college out West, so (if it isn't too much hassle) I was wondering what OSU is like. I really don't know much about it, but is it a good school? What is the campus like? How many students? Just stuff like that. Thanks Becky!
Well, I'm not sure how many students. I'll have to ask my daughter that question. The campus is very pretty with alot of trees and greenery. There is a price to pay for that greenery though.............RAIN! Bring your umbrella! Oregon State is known for their agriculture programs. My daughter is studying interior design there. She is quite happy there but she has figured out that her course of study is not the place to meet boys. At least not straight ones. :roflmao: Her friend and roomate is studying engineering and her classes are mostly boys! They are not quite as liberal there as the other big Oregon college (University of Oregon). My daughter keeps joking that she can only find Republicans in the dating pool. Corvallis has about 50,000 people. The streets get kind of congested at times. Its a nice little place though and with Albany and Salem close by you have pretty much everything you need. Oregon in general is a blue state and pretty liberal at least over in that area. I think there would be groups for you to join as a gay person. In fact, there was somebody else who is a member here who goes to school at Oregon State. I don't think he's been very active here lately. Anyway, hope that helps a little.
Thanks Becky! You're awesome! I LOVE the rain, that is one of the reasons why I would like to live in the Northwest. I was kinda thinking OSU would be an ag school, like Iowa State is here. I'm thinking about going into some type of engineering, so it would probably fit well there. ISU is the same way in terms of liberalness. The U of I is VERY liberal. Iowa City(home of UI) is one of the most liberal cities in the midwest. Ames(where ISU is located)is about 50,000(counting the 25,000 students)too, so its a good comparison in terms of size. And I can easily relate to the street congestion in a college town. Lincoln, Duff, and Grand are all horrible. Especially on gamedays. It definately helps! Thanks again!
