Hey, I noticed that there are some other twins on this site . . . who else has a twin besides me? I'm just curious to see how many sets of twins share orientations.

I have a twin brother (identical), but he's straight/not out.

Do you have any suspicions about your brother?

Semi on topic, I've always found kinship studies to be fairly interesting. I'm curious myself to see how many twins are here

Yes, but I also know a set of twins in which one was gay and the other one was straight. I heard if one is gay there's a 57% chance of the other one sharing the same orientation if they're identical.

Since identical twins have the same DNA, shouldn't both be either straight or gay?

well technically no. i think most scientists agree that homosexuality is caused by both genetics and their environment (usually prenatal). so in terms of twins, even if both are exposed to the same environment out of the womb, they could share separate sacs (and thus separate environments) before birth. sorry if thats a bit vague. its the best way i could explain it.

Are you out to him? Maybe if you brought the subject up and let him know about you, or just your stance on the issue he might open up to you?
Homosexuality isn't entirely caused by genetics (nobody really knows for sure what causes it) but cases like these with identical twins brings about the question of environment. Maybe one twin was exposed to more of the 'gay' hormone than the other in the womb.

I don't have a twin brother (as far as I know!). Something really weird happened last week though. I was at a concert and I was walking around the arena and I found my identical twin walking around with what seemed to be his girlfriend. I was too much in shock, just staring at him to even think of going up and talking to him.

I'm not out to him. Maybe this summer. Only parents + roommate. When I came out to my parents they told me that I could tell my older brother no problem, but my twin might have a bit of an issue so it'd take a bit of time.

Oh, the other thing I hate about being twins is that if I'm gay and he's straight, I do NOT want to be known as "the gay one". And that's invariably going to happen, behind my back or not.

I'm friends with 2 pairs of twin (one pair's identical; the other's fraternal).
And fortunately for me, I have a crush on one of the identical twins (so hard to get over him :dry:slight_smile:

Does that mean you fancy both of them if they're identical?

Surprisingly, no. For me, it's really easy to tell which one's which. I like the quiet twin, the other one's loud - like me.

Somehow, I like quiet guys, I don't know why, though.

You like dominating peeps. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I used to know two identical twins from my old school. I could never ever tell them apart, and it used to drive them mad because it was apparently 'obvious'. It totally wasn't. :frowning2:

Just look at their shoes! That's how I used to be able to tell them apart :roflmao:
Now, I don't need the shoes, I can just tell them apart.... :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
