So it turns out that Prince Charles now wants to try and lobby parliament for some of his hair brain ventures involving god awful architecture (a load of NHS hospitals were built with it and look awful) or worse his obsession with homeopathy (literally magic water that is nothing more than a placebo)

He is trying to block the "black spider memos" form being published, since they prove he has been manipulating the government for his own interests.

I think he will be a horrific king, it makes me kinda conflicted about joining the military, I want to do it for the experience, but that thing would be my boss....

Yes he's a bit of a nutter from what I've heard... with any luck he'll just pass the monarchy onto his son.

I think he's a good man, a good philanthropist, and a good prince, but that he wouldn't serve quite as well as his mother as king. I agree with Ridiculous; William would make a better king.

Well, there is a bonus. An increase in republican sentiment.

What's the definition of 'good man?'

He wasn't man enough to reject marrying Diana. He wasn't man enough to stay faithful to Diana. He wasn't man enough to talk to his mother about grieving for Diana; the prime minster had to do that.

But yeah, I really don't like Prince Charles. He has zero charisma, he sounds like a wacko and (almost) everything he's done in life has been half arsed with a weak backbone. He would make an awful king.

At least he's kinda old. Wouldn't be surprised if the Queen has a good 10 years left, so that would make him what, about 70 something when he inherits? And from what I've read, he doesn't have a healthy life style.

Not that I want to wish him dead, of course, but his rule needs to be over and done with asap. He should just pass it onto William; I think he even knows a little bit that he would make a dreadful king. >_>

I think the queen does too, which is why she's keeping her hands tightly gripped to the throne :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: (she better not get the abdication itch like the other world monarchs have recently).

I'd take him any day over, say any one of the men trying to go far in the Republican Party here. I guess it's all about perspective.

I am 100% Republican (in the British sense of the word), but if we absolutely have to have a king then I would also prefer William. Apparently the Queen has the power to make sure William gets the throne after her instead of Charles, but I can't see her doing that to her own son. Maybe she'll just outlive him instead.

I've always thought he's very creepy, and rather ugly...maybe it's all the inbreeding? You know, too shallow of a gene pool?

Are you sure you don't want to borrow that blade thingy from France? You know, the Guillotine? Very handy in such cases  (kidding, of course!)

    yup

    ---------- Post added 10th Jul 2013 at 08:58 PM ----------

If you are born in the UK you are a Subject. Passports say Citizen for EU reasons (we are EU citizens)

But I refuse to be called a Subject, If I ever have to meet a royal I would just refuse the etiquette or just ignore them.

Me too. Unless it was Prince Charles then I would probably spit in his face.

Maybe being a grandfather will mellow Charles out.

Wait a second. I thought the Monarchy in the UK had no real power.

Isn't the hostility towards royalty going a bit far here? It's one thing not to bow, but to ignore anyone based on being a higher class is no more acceptable than refusing manners with someone of a lower class. And spitting on someone is just disgusting.

I was exaggerating a little... and believe me, Charles would refuse manners with anybody of a lower class, so he doesn't deserve the respect of the little people.
