I heard SWAG as popularlized by such music......er no, noise producers like Justin Bieber and Solja Boy used to mean Secretly We Are Gay , and was used as a sign between gay guys who lived back when it was taboo and illegal to be gay.

    Is this true?

I'm pretty sure that "SWAG" is Secretly We Are Gay, but people tried to make it like a shorter version of "swagger." I guess the actual meaning had disappeared over the last few years.

I've heard it to mean "merchandise" but somebody who has swagger also knows a real word. "Swag" is only perpetuated by human refuse.

a lot of people get annoyed with the word swag or just don't agree with the general meaning of it, so they create acronyms for it.

secretly we are gay, she wants a gentleman, etc.

For me, swag is like what they give you at marathon conventions where you go from booth to booth picking up samples, coupons, tchotchkes, stickers, etc, when you go for your packet/bib pickup.

I think it's bullshit, but I hate 'swag' and 'yolo' with a passion anyway. Only tend to ironically use '#yoloswag' which also includes my hate for hashtags.

Edit: so yeah, this doesn't answer your question at all. Sorry

Here in Australia, a swag is a kind of tent/sleeping bag hybrid. Not sure what it has to do with that yolo bullshit...

A swagger stick was something used by British generals to assault their troops with.

I don't understand why it's been so glorified.

They wouldn't injure them so they can't fight, but the theory goes that if a soldier is scared enough of his commanding officer behind, he won't fear the enemy in front of him.
