I don't "fit" into any categories of being gay

So I've been thinking recently that I don't actually fit any of the types of gays, I looked into all of them e.g twinks, bears, muscle etc. Each of the types have a list of things that should apply to you for you to be considered that type of gay but that doesn't work for me!
It's like I'm a mixture of different types, basically I have a slim/muscular body, tall, have quite a bit of body hair and facial hair. That means I don't really fit into any of the stereotypes and when people ask me I don't really know what I should call myself :S
Even down to my interests I can't label myself as a certain type of gay as I like some sports but hate others, like musicals and acting and I'm a huge nerd, but still like fashion! It's all so confusing, does anyone else have this problem of not really fitting in?

I'm pretty sure other people have this problem. There's no need to fit in. And, you're most likely not the only one.

I'm bisexual so yeah i never fit in. but remember that just because your gay doesn't mean you are a stereotypical gay. Stereotypes are in general horrible, they make it harder to come out and cause a lot of bullying.

Believe it or not, that is the story for most people. Those "categories" are so generalized that lots of people can fit into them - or not.

Forget the labels and just be yourself.

I didn't really just mean the stereotypical feminine drama queen that everyone seems to think of haha I know there are different types of gay people but I just can't seem to be able to label myself as any of them, just seemed a bit weird.

Oh right, I haven't really had that much exposure to gay life in general, so I thought that most people would fit into these categories

Don't worry about it! Everybody is individual, nobody can be labelled 100% (although some people admittedly come closer to the stereotypes than others). I'm completely the same as you, caught hopelessly in the middle, but it doesn't matter to me because I'm not a label, I'm a person; I'm me, and whether or not there's somebody out there for me they would just have to accept me for me.

Remember that a lot of these labels arise either from a requirement for specialist porn or because people are attracted to a certain type of person. If I ever do get a boyfriend then I want them to be attracted to me, not just to fetishise my body type.

It doesn't matter what you label yourself as. Those are general concepts of body and interest stereotypes. You can be completely heterosexual and label yourself as gay. Labels are really restrictive, so go with what you feel more comfortable with, or go with nothing. It doesn't matter.

Very few people are gonna pipe up and say 'oh yeah, I completely fit into that generalisation/model/stereotype'. It's not that you don't fit into any category, it's that you fit into little bits of most categories. Kinda like me and most others. It's not a problem - it's just a thing!

Every "category of being gay" is a stereotype. Those can be found everywhere because sometimes people forget that gay people are individuals too.
So forget about the stupid labels and just be yourself and gay.

People are all individuals and have their own distinctive traits, quirks and interests. There is no reason to try and alter yourself to fit into some unrealistic stereotype of what a gay guy 'should' be like. Most stereotypes are harmful in my opinion, and the more people who establish the fact everyone is different and you can't place them into rigid groups for convenience the better.

Neither do I, and I'm glad of that. Can't we just be ourselves, rather than squeezing into pointless sub-categories? In any case, these stereotypes tend to de-humanise us.

i don't think i'm going to fit in with most gay people. i hate musicals, and i don't seem gay at all.

but quite honestly, i don't want to fit in. i'm an individual, and i don't want label myself, or adhere to something just because other people do.

  17. Me either! No worries you don't need to fit a mold.

  18. Maybe you're just... average? It's okay to not fit into a specific category of gay guys, most of them are just stereotypes anyway. I'm the same way. Hell, let's make our own category

Don't worry about fitting into a category ^)^ Some people say that I am the most eccentric person they know. I suppose if I were to categorize myself as a type of lesbian... I would be the tomboy-cosplaying-anime addicted-live action roleplaying-nerd-under cover-adventurous-aviation lesbian ^)^ who wants to be an astronaut well simultaneously sitting at home eating pretzels and watching my little pony!

*chuckle* the idea that most gay people like musicals is also a stereotype. I like some musicals, but not beyond all reason or anything. And I spent most of today at work listening to Five Finger Death Punch, Megadeath, Ozzy, and various other rock/metal bands, both old and new.

My partner works in Theater, TV, and Film and so is around a lot of musicals. He actually likes classical and opera. But he also does carpentry, paint, electrical, plumbing, and welding. Most of our straight friends (male friends included) call him in to do handyman type stuff for them (because he's very good at it).

Anyway, just thought I'd point out the bit about musicals. Other than that, by all means be as individual as you are comfortable being
