I used to do that a lot as well.. But for me it was usually because I had very crappy underwear and it would ride up and what not. I always had to loosen its grip of death from my privates.

 

I don't think lots of straight guys do that…I think it's more of a stereotype.

This is more like a rapper/ghetto stereotype than a straight one.

There are no real stereotypes for straight people, because since they are the majority who creates the rules they represent themselves in the media in all shapes and sizes.

In answer to the original question, I don't really know. Maybe it reassures them of their masculinity in some way? Sort of like, yeah, I have testicles, what of it?

 

It's rather rude, tasteless, and simply poor behaviour to do that.

 

Yeah, I remember a few guys in my class did that when I was in middle school. They'd just put their hand in their boxers and sit there, like nothing was out of the ordinary. It was weird. But I haven't seen anyone doing it since then.

I've seen one guy do that (thank god he wasn't that hot, I would have gone crazy otherwise), and I'm thinking maybe it's to fix BSTL due to sweat. I dunno.

Haha yeah I've seen people do this and it always takes me by surprise. I doubt it's a straight thing only though. It's just we happen to see straight guys more often than not due to the large number of them.

I've actually seen girls do it... actually when I was in 8th grade, there were 2 girls at a public amusement park from a neighboring band in the state of Missouri. They had their hands... down EACH OTHER's pants. They were like...13-14, It surprised me and all the pervs in line to say the least >.<

 

Eh, this is a kind of a weird question. Maybe this is a British/Irish thing? I never heard of wearing jogging bottoms and fondling themselves while talking to friends and smoking a cigarette as being a straight guy stereotype.
