I went to get gas last night. In Oregon, we are lazy and have somebody else pump our gas. So the gas attendant says "Whoa.....this thing is thirsty! $50 in a mini-van and it's still going!!" When it finally stopped, he hands me my receipt and he says "That'll be a million bucks." Ha, ha! $69.00 to fill up my mini-van. Ouch!!!!

Next time, see if he'll accept the mini-van as payment.

My car has a 72 litre petrol tank (and a 4 litre, 6 cylinder motor).

Petrol here is currently $1.55 per litre.

That equates to well over ONE HUNDRED dollars for a tank of petrol.

    AUS$100 is currently US$95.

I'm very glad that I have a car that runs 'dual fuel' - ie, I fill up on LPG (Liquified Petroleum Gas) at around 62c per litre. Oh - and it is much cleaner and greener than petrol.

Also - if I lived in the UK - it would be MUCH more expensive for petrol.

I know what you mean Becky! The last two times I've filled up my tiny little TT it has been $70!!! At that price, I need to be a little more gentle with the accelerator! :eusa_doh:

I take public transit most days as well. I have a 5 minute drive to the train station and then I take a commuter train into downtown - and then walk to the office.

On those beautiful spring / summer / fall days I'm tempted to drive and take the convertible - but I'm not as likely to do that with these gas prices.

This is why I'm terrified of actually passing my driving test. The cost of petrol is IMMENSE.

It's not fair. My parents have company cars so their work just pays for all the petrol ¬_¬ How the hell am I supposed to afford it?

I'll need to cut down on the wine... :frowning2:

All the people in Poland envy you your cheap petrol! I've just been at the gas station with my mum and she paid $140 for filling up the car!

lol, my parents are complaining about $3.40/gallon gas here. That's, what, $.90/L.

About 5 years ago I remember it was $.94/gallon, so that's why everyone's all whining about it even though we have it a lot better than Europe.

Last week, I worked out with my math tutor that gas here
(in France-Diesel) was $7.66 and 7/10 per gallon.

It also might be helpful to note that:
    1 US liquid gallon=approx. 3.78L
    1 Imperial (UK) gallon= 4.54L or 1.2 US Gal.

In the UK it is about £1.10 per litre now. That's about $2.15 (US dollars) per litre or about $9.68 per gallon (assuming 1 gallon is 4.5 litres).

It costs about £35 to fill my car up, which gets me about 250 miles, so it costs me £0.14 per mile.

When I worked at my local gas station, it would regularly take ~$50-$60 ...sometimes $80 to fill up high-performance trucks and such. One customer pulled up in what he referred to as a "land yacht" (a mobile camper) and put ~$180 worth of gas into it.

I consider an hour's walk to be walking distance ^^ that's how long it took one way to the McDonnalds I worked at. Also, I've held several jobs at the local mall, which is a 45 minute walk.
