I recently went to Orange County (a somewhat conservative county in the California coast), and I got to visit my nephew, Brandon, in Northern OC. He just turned 11 and he's aware of the news about gay marriage on ABC. When I was taking him out to eat, the topic of gay rights got brought up. Brandon: There were these kids in school that was making fun of my friend's daddies when he was so happy that they're getting married. Me: What did those kids say? Brandon: They were telling him," Why do you have two dads? Aren't you afraid they'll turn you gay? And where's the mommy?" What's so bad about that? It's none of their business. Me: Well some people can't appreciate what some people have. That was enough to know my nephew supports gay rights. I'm so happy from this
I have family in OC. They vary from really cool to words that I will not say. On topic again... That's great! Your nephew sounds like a cool kid.
That's great! Especially coming from one of the few places in California where conservatives actually get to be conservative...
They...they are nothing. I meant in more of regards to like children's views on issues and like tolerance and stuff.
Ugh, I didn't mean to offend, let's just say I'm not the biggest fan of most songs on the top charts. Things are changing, though (thank god for Foster the People, Mumford, ect).
Hey, Brits are lucky. You guys have Fratellis, Kasabian, ect (although I don't know if it's the same in Dublin as it is - or was when I lived there - in London). It's much worse over here.
Oh right, I forget the whole Republic thing sometimes. I should have got that down by now - I keep offending family whenever I'm in Dublin :roflmao:
I love this story. I am sure you and your cousin will be best mates for life...Make sure you look after each other
To which I aptly reply with "Pogue mahone (or Póg mo thóin, as my yahoo answers says it's spelled!)". Edit: to clarify, "Pogue Mahone" is the spelling used in the album by The Pogues. That's why I spelled it like that.
